We booked to stay here and as we walked in we knew it was not going to be pleasent. The smells on the stairs were enough to make make anyone with a weak stomache vomit. There was no fire extingushers. We were shown to our room and it was terrible the heating was boken so we changed rooms. Now were... more

I stayed at the Phoenix in February of 2003 and while it was by no means palatial, I did not think it was bad. Hot water worked, beds were clean and staff was friendly. Would I stay there again? Oh I don't know, I earn a bit more money now, but at the time, it was adequate for our needs. more

Door lock that looked like it had been tampered with, bed linen and towels not changed once in the 3 day stay i had the misfortune of staying there. no toilet for hotel itself so you had to use the gents in the pub downstairs which would have been fair enough if it was in use.... more

Not worth the money at all. Staff showed no sign of knowing we had reserved rooms. Rooms were dirty and poorly maintained - light fittings hanging off wall, dirty bathroom (with no door), we had no duvet on our bed (only a top sheet), bins etc hadn't been emptied and I boiled the kettle in our room to find it... more

Have never stayed in a place like it.no plugs in the sinks.layed on the bed and it sagged to the floor. The bathroom was scruffy. The hotel description was very wide of the mark,it said cable tv and high speed internet connection in double rooms..all that was in our room was a dusty old portable tv(I have photos to prove)all in all... more
