I travel internationally and this is my worst ever experience...

A big golf tournament determined that all the good hotels would be booked. This place is touted as a recently refurbished medieval building in a very beautiful Roman and Tudor town. They were the only place I found with a room left.

There is a reason for that. It is the filth. The first room I was given had a bed made with dirty sheets - the maid had simply pulled the covers into order over the used bed. (If I hadn't prepaid, I would have walked out when I saw the grime-coated lounge with dirt-slick carpets and dusty ceramic cats.) The second room, it turned out at 1am when I got back to it to sleep, had the pipework running beside it and the water-rushing noises were loud. Too loud to sleep. So they moved me to a third room (although not until the front desk clerk had asked if he could come into my
