This is an older place (well, being a 15th-century building that's a bit of an understatement) a few minutes from both the centre of Colchester and the Colchester town railway station (note, this is a side-station, not the main Colchester station, so you need to switch trains at the main station). No doubt the sort of people who expect the Hilton at B&B prices will find plenty to complain about, but you just can't beat the price, I stayed over a weekend and took advantage of their three-nights-for-the-price-of-two offer to pay UKP 25 a night for a room with private bathroom (there are even cheaper rooms with shared bathrooms). If you're expecting a luxury place then you definitely need to look elsewhere, but if you want value for money you can't beat this one. more
