Dominic and Kim are the most friendly and affable guest house owners you could ever wish to meet, you get a warm welcome and they have an understanding nature. I was left stranded and had no transport home until 2 hours after check out time, I explained this to the owners and asked if I could leave my luggage until... More

We stayed at the Railway Sleeper when visiting Colchester for one night in March 2013. We just wanted a cheap place as we were literally just sleeping for one night, but were pleasantly surprised. There is no reception but check in consists of them sending a code to open the front door and details of where the room key could... More

This place is perfect for single workers wanting cheap accomodation. The room was very small for two people but we managed in a comical way. The continental breakfast was nice and they use fairtrade but the bread was still frozen. The hotel has a check yourself in policy and they text you the key code to enter on arrival which... More

This is a great quality budget hotel located 10 minutes walk up the hill from Colchester's main railway station. I was here on business for 1 night only. I arrived late at the hotel which was no problem at all, as I was given a code to get through the door and told where my key would be left for... More

I stayed for one night and was very happy, warm and comfortable in my room. The premises are clean, tidy and well managed. There are more than adequate provisions; en suite, TV, breakfast, WiFi, parking, tea and coffee etc, and the price was very reasonable. Having read some of the negative reviews I tend to think people are far too... More

We stayed there twice, already writing a review after the first stay because it is very strange that on their website and other booking servers, the Railway Sleeper seems to be just one house, offering rooms with breakfast. Our company had booked us in there for 4 nights and paid WITH breakfast, only on arrival did we find out that... More

We refer to this review posted here by Rene Bauer & Andrea Kaucka. They both stayed at our lodge on 2 occasions which was booked and paid for by their employers Pyramid Posters. Both before during and after their stay they have been abusive and were so verbally and physically abusive on departing we had to call the police. Since... More

I booked this little budget lodge (as they advertise it) as my usual one was fully booked. I expected to find what you would normally find in budget chains like travelodge etc. But this was not the case they had an extremely convenient self check in, rooms that were immaculately clean, bright and airy and comprised of an iron, ironing... They try hard to press as much as possible in small rooms. "All rooms are en-suite" is not the reality. The booking rules are a bit strange and for my experience with all sorts of b&b´s cheeky - booking by phone or email is additonal charge of 3 GBP per night (not even only per booking!!!) And another cheeky thing... More

We stayed as a group of 3 friends on the top floor, we had our own bathroom across the landing, nothing to over the top just basic which was what we were after. It was quite hard to find the first time but we once we managed to find it we had no issues locating it again. The pub across... More
