This recently renovated rustic stone milk farm houses a number of beautifully done up apartments in a very pretty part of England. The long barn has been split up into little "row houses" where each and every detail has been thought of. The tea and coffee are stocked, there's a welcome hamper with biscuits, bread, cheese and jam, there's a sound system to plug your iPod into, there's free wireless if you want it, soap and shampoo in the bathroom of course, oh, and the laundry not only has facilities for you to wash your clothes, it's well stocked with games, maps, brochures, books, baby toys, teenager-friendly activities, DVDs and more. We visited with a baby and a teenager and both were happy. (Yes, they have baby beds and even a changing mat for loan)

The only reason why you might not want to stay here is that it's a bit of a drive from the Lake District. We thought the 50-60 miles would be nothing, but driving in the Lake District itself is such an utter pain... more
