I stayed at Cambus O'May for 2 nights in September. When you drive up the driveway and see the house you think you've picked this wonderful old Scottish hotel. Old yes, wonderful no! The hotel is caught up in a time warp and very very out dated. Old fashioned is putting it mildly. The other very distressing thing is that the people that run it smoke! There is this underlying smell of cigarette smoke througout the hotel. One of my friends had a very small bedroom upstairs above the kitchen and was kept away all night by the smell of the cigarette smoke. Another friend walked into the kitchen and found the staff smoking. The place is also extremely regimental and there are lots of rules that you have to stick to. No flexibility at all and if you ask for some time for example, to look at the menu for a minute, you will be told no! The food is ok, there is no wine served by the glass and if you do decide to eat dinner at the hotel you will have the smell of cigarette smoke on... more
