We came back to the Masons Arms for our 5th visit as we love the location, rooms , walks etc. The simple message this time is 'replace the chef'. For anyone coming here for their first visit, I'm sure that they won't return if they have a meal. The pub is probably living on a lot of return trade, but... more

Just got back from a "get away from it all" 2 night stay. We booked a small room, which was just what we wanted - Clean, tidy and well maintained - We were on the ground floor of an old thatched stone cottage and because of it's elevated position the view from the window was of open countryside - very... more

We have just returned from a two day midweek break with friends at the Mason's Arms in Branscombe. It was excellent. We stayed in a deluxe double room (room 5) with four poster bed and jacuzzi bath. Other deluxe rooms are larger (Room 4 has a claw foot bath) but ours was perfect for our needs. The rooms look as... more

For many years we stayed in Beer and walked to the Mason's Arms in Branscombe for lunch: it was so impossible to leave the warm welcome, great food and log fire that we now stay at the Mason's Arms and walk to Beer instead! We stay during all seasons, and during busy and quiet times(New Year, Easter, February, October, etc)... more

Last Christmas my wife and I searched for somewhere to stay that did not offer the 'Yo,ho,ho' that so many British hotels feel obligatory at this time of the year. We settled on the Masons Arms and were delighted. They recognised that Christmas was a special occasion by offering a generous champagne reception and a couple of Gala Dinners but,... more

My husband and I and our 2 children have just returned from an overnight stay at The Masons Arms, Branscome, Devon and were most disappointed that it didnt live up to expectations. We love South Devon and have family living locally. At certain family events it makes it easier for us to spend a night or two at a hotel/... more

The Masons Arms is an old favourite of ours and we go every year, sometimes twice. But I do have to agree with what has been said before. The food quality does seem to be going downhill. The restaurant food is a complete rip off - having to pay for three courses even if you don't eat dessert/starter etc. My... more

This was our 2nd stay and we picked a fabulous week for the weather (last week in april) - sun all week! Following the MSC Napoli being run aground in January, we were wary of what we would find on this trip. Well, only one small area of the beach was closed and it didn't make any difference whatsoever. The... more

We have stayed in the Masons Arms quite a few times over the past six or so years. The accommodtion is great, we usually have one of the cottage rooms as we take our dog, who like us is always made welcome. I know that this hotel has been taken over since our last visit, and whilst the staff are... more
