Where do you find your staff? As locals, we visit your hotel hoping the next experience will be better. Todays visit proved unpleasant yet again. We were served by a male bar person who took twenty minutes to serve us with drinks but only after our friend went to the bar to ask, politely, when we could expect our drinks. She was met with sarcasm about ‘being busy’ and when the drinks eventually arrived another sarcastic remark was made. When my husband ordered the drinks, this same bar person was having an altercation with another member of staff and was overheard today ‘I’m not bloody doing that’. I know staff are hard to come by, but your staff are rude , sarcastic and blasé. We visited on the 10 th March and the time was 2.45pm. The original review I posted (as above) was answered by a manager identifying themselves as called Stefka Csordas requesting I contact them by email to discuss this matter further. Update: I contacted this person as requested via email and to date have not received any response whatsoever, am I surprised, no I am not!…..

Hotel's Favourite
I booked this hotel for a short respite break for my mum who is full time carer to my dad. I called in advance and explained how much it meant to my mum especially (first break away since 2019 for her). Carol on reception went above and beyond and the room she gave us was amazing, Ill be forever grateful to her for making us feel so special. Only one small negative, you cannot take alcohol to the pool area, I had wanted to share a glass of champagne with my mum in the sunshine but sadly we were not allowed. Our joint age is over 100 and I understand not taking glass but I did think this was a little silly, just my opinion.

Hello Sara, Thank you so much for your lovely review. Thank you for mentioning Carol, I will make sure I pass your comments onto her, she will really love them. I apologise for our no alcohol, no glass by the pool rule, unfortunately due to previous instances it has proven to be necessary. I'm so pleased we were able to give you both a relaxing break and hope we will see you back soon. Kind Regards Leonie

Great location, comfortable & well appointed room, very good spa facilities, good restaurant & lovely staff throughout for whom nothing was too much trouble - overall a very welcoming ambiance. While a few of the furnishings were a bit 'tired', they did not detract from a very pleasant break & we can thoroughly recommend staying here.

I thoroughly enjoyed this dining experience in Sidmouth. The food was first class and catered for our dietary requirements. My daughter being vegan and I was gluten free. The panoramic view only added to the experience. I would definitely book again.

I went for a spa treatment that was booked by my daughter as a birthday treat. The facilities are lovely but I had issues with my booking that they tried to amend, agreed it had been sorted and on arrival I realised it hadn’t. Even when I went for my treatment the mix up was still apparent, so didn’t get the correct treatment my daughter had booked. The therapist was lovely and very professional but I feel the organisation needs reviewing and maybe a new booking system as this has put me off going back.

The luncheon was delicious. Scallops and soup (carrot and parsnip) to start. Then we both had slow cooked beef (which have to say was gorgeous) and followed by desserts of apple crumble and sticky toffee pudding! The staff were attentive nothing too much trouble and extremely pleasant special mention for Jay and Libby and also another waitress who didn’t get the name of sadly but, she will know who we were ( she spoke to us about the colcannon potato)! We were on table 6 !

Stayed here for s short break recently and had a wonderful stay. The staff were very accommodating with everything including our room request for a birthday getting a free upgrade to a luxury seaview room, bottle of chilled wine in the room and a free mini bar which was a lovely touch and they even did gluten free bread and cereal for breakfast. The room was lovely snd the views was amazing towards the sea. Staff were attentive and the breakfast was good with a good selection for everyone and the cocktails were excellent. The only thing we noticed on one night is the staff didnt make us sign for the bar bill micking up the final bill at the end of our stay but otherwise everything was perfect and we would highly recommend this hotel to friends and family and would stay again for a short break if ever visiting sidmouth again.

The hotel room was lovely, the hotel and spa are good, however they have the most ludicrous policy when paying by cash. They accept cash but don’t give change ! Is this in fact illegal? Never heard such ridiculous excuse for this, the barman stated he couldn’t give change because the till cash drawer doesn’t close so anyone could steal cash ! In my opinion you are either a cashless business or not. If you accept cash you MUST give change. The food in the restaurant is overpriced for value for money and the service was poor. We had to ask for menus at dinner, we waited over 20 mins at breakfast and then had to get up and ask for someone to take our order. They then added a £19 service charge to our bill! Even the reception don’t give change if paying by cash. On check in the receptionist did not offer us any information on dinner, breakfast times, directions to where anything was, no spa details, didn’t ask if we wanted to make a dinner reservation nor offer the WiFi password. We had to ask for everything, considering we paid £200 for one night I was expecting much more from this hotel. Not worth the money in my opinion

Dear Fordie67, Thank you for sharing your feedback. I am sorry your experience did not match your expectations. Indeed, as per our signage, we accept card payments only, and I am very sorry we therefore had no change to give. However, please be assured that your comments will be addressed with the relevant department managers and appropriate action taken. I am really pleased to hear you enjoyed your room and the spa facilities. I hope we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the not too distant future. Kind regards, Stefka Csordas Hotel Manager
