I had already booked this hotel and paid upfront to seal a remarkable price, then i read trip advisor, from then on i dreaded the visit. We booked a Turret Room, it was amazing, its own private staircase, with two bedrooms and bathroom, (like a mini suite) all newly refurbished, the jacuzzi bath was excellent my children loved it, it... more

My husband and I stayed at The Grand for five days in mid October 2009. We had been a little worried after reading some pretty awful reviews on Trip Advisor - especially as we only read these the night before we travelled to Scarborough! But we need not have worried. Our room on the fourth floor overlooking the Travelodge Hotel... more

After reading some terrible reviews, I wasn't keen on trying The Grand, but I'm so glad I did. The staff were generally excellent, and at worst unenthusiastic. The food, whilst certainly not Michelin class, was hot, plentiful and delicious. Our room was lovely - very quiet, and with a whirlpool bath, which was unexpected. The only down side for me... more

After reading reviews on this site and booking a family room for two nights inc breakfast, we were expecting the worst. BUT it was fantastic. We had a newly renovated basement room, which still had a window looking over the sea, a huge comfortable double bed, jacuzzi bath. Spotlessly clean. The evening entertainment is more for the 50+ and the... more

I will try to keep this simple, however I cant promise I wont start to rant! I have to say this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and would never, never return!! It may have been a wonderful hotel in Victorian days, but unfortunately it seems that nothing has been done since then. I met family and... more

Stayed here for two nights, and to be honest its not that bad for what you pay. We had a turret room which was different in a great way,it had great 360degree views of the surrounding area although it should have a large flat screen TV ! On the downside, the reception staff do need some customer training "when I asked... more

As a young lad in the 1960's staying in a boarding house near to the castle, I would dream of being able to afford a stay in a 'proper posh hotel'; and The Grand was always the poshest in Scarborough! My wife and I stayed the weekend, Saturday/Sunday night. There is no real parking facility, so I parked in the... more

All 4 of our pre-booked rooms were DUNGEONS! no windows in any of the rooms, which had been dug into the cliff face. No natural light or ventilation meant, they were damp and foisty. A complaint to reception, meant we had to join the LONG queue of people with the same complaint. When we did speak to someone, about changing... more

The only thing Grand was the view Reception staff more interested in talking to each other than dealing with waiiting clients Lounge furniture sad and worn needs replacing .Incessant sixties music on a short repeating loop from dawn to dusk very intrusive. My single room (Beware The A suffix) was better described as a byju broom cupboard. Food Breakfast just... more
