I stayed here on a business trip having had the Inn booked for me. I got there late due to the wonderful M25 but Robin had left his mobile for me and came and showed me to my room and even got me a sandwich even though the kitchen had closed. Room was lovely, had everything you need. Breakfast was... More

We spent three nights with Robin at the Ye Old Red Lion and couldn't be happier. It was a lovely pub/ B&B. The accomodations were wonderful and the food was delicious. Robin, the innkeeper was johnny on the spot making sure everything was as it should be. He was very friendly. He served a wonderful jam and marmelade made by... More

I meet friends at this little pub for lunch and have always found it to be friendly and welcoming. I travel some distance, and on occasion, get there before the pub is open, and they are always happy for us to have a cup of coffee while they finish getting ready to open. There is a vast menu with something... More

Recently stayed for 1 night as a stopover. The service was friendly and the food at the pub is good. Near M4 but quiet. There was lots of parking when I arrived. Comfortable stay and well appointed room. Mattress bit firm for me, but that's just my personal preference. Slight problem connecting to wifi during my stay, but could be... More

I stayed at Ye Olde Red Lion last Friday evening with my daughter whilst travelling down to the Isle of Wight. What a delightful place. I stayed in the stunning room called Lochlash, with its own front door and little staircase. The room was enormous, beautifully furnished and absolutely packed with character. The bed was huge and so comfortable -... More

We stayed at this pub last weekend following a trip to Thruxton race track. We chose it based on previous trip advisor reports. We were not disappointed. Although in the heart of the village, this pub is just 2 minutes from the M4/A34 junction making it very accessible. Robin the landlord greeted us with a smile and made us feel... More

Each October since 2000, I have attended an annual two day business event held on the Newbury Showground. For lunch on both days, I always visit the lovely Ye Olde Red Lion pub in the nearby village of Chieveley, an enjoyable short walk from the showground. This traditional old English pub is full of character and serves truly excellent food.... More

A group of us came here on a Saturday evening whilst staying at the Travelodge nearby. There were about 20 of us, adults and children and although the pub was crowded with locals, the service was still excellent. We had been here a year ago and loved it so we came back to see if it was still as good... More

This is a classic English pub with lovely detached accommodation full of character. The food is excellent with a good choice of menu, and the pub also has a good selection of real ales. Even though the pub is obviously popular as a restaurant, it hasn't lost it's pub atmosphere.

I found this place after a mess up with booking.com and what a find. Nicely appointed rooms, great food and a friendly village atmosphere. It was great to see the pub stacked out with locals and the device was excellent. I would highly recommend a stay here.
