Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Treated myself to a night away. Stayed in a lake view room and you guessed it, it had a lake view. Lovely grounds and short walk to the castle ruins. Lovely restaurant and food. Really good value for money. I will definitely return

Donnington hall is steeped with history. Beautiful decor. We stayed in the summerhouse and it was amazing. The views are excellent. The staff are attentive and pleasant. The food at the restaurant is very good and well priced.

500 acres of beautiful grounds and fantastic walks. Castle to walk to 6 minutes away through the woods. Ideal for dog walkers. Manual at the reception was extremely hospitable and helped with everything we needed. I would very much like to come back in the not too distant future.

It was a really nice hotel and the main building is stunning. Great location on a golf course which also looked nice. I went for a nice walk along the river which runs through the property. I would just double check the precise location of your room as there are several options. Wouls I stay here again? YES DEFINITELY.

Lovely but dated Hotel in a Classic Country House setting. The Staff Team were outstanding and a pleasure to interact with plus great service. Good car parking, good walks directly from the Hotel and very close to Newbury, so location good. No negatives at all and we fully intend to return in the future, hopefully for more than the two nights we managed this time.

Beautiful, clean, and charming. The staff are so kind and helpful. They are all extremely polite, smart and professional and clearly it is a small happy team that communicate well. They get everything just right and it is very well run. Highly recommended.

My Mum and I stayed here for one night. This was part of the 'Sunday Sleepover' offer as advertised on the website. Our room was in the manor and was huge. It was tired looking in some areas, but had a charm about it. The location is great and we had lovely views from the window. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the restaurant staff. Highly recommend the food. We had dinner and breakfast the next morning. I would stay here again.

We were blown away by the size of our suite which all three if us shared. It included a sitting area and dining space. So comfortable and clean. We enjoyed our meal in the restaurant though my friends struggled with the lack of vegetarian options( only one on the menu and it was the same one each night) I however was better catered for as a gluten intolerant person. We were made to feel welcomed by Monuel when he checked us in and out in reception and Lilly took amazing care of us at dinner and breakfast.

A lovely place to stay. Clean and comfortable. Friendly staff, Monmel on reception gave us a warm welcome. The food in the restaurant was delicious, hats off to the chef. Lilly the waitress was really helpful. The grounds were lovely to wander around, even in February. We were lucky to stay in a suite, which so spacious. A real stately home experience. They may have parties being held, so it can be a bit noisy in the evening. It didn’t really bother us though and I would gladly return.
