Surprised to find such a talent in this hotel. The hotel has warmth, feels like a 5 star hotel with its uniqueness, needs a make over of rooms, refurbishment which they say will start soon. Helpfull staff, I would say typical of other Hiltons -however in the Stubbs pianobar was a pianist I take my hat off to - he... more

We stayed here in May of 2007. This hotel is definitely at the low end of the Hilton spectrum (in fact the worst one I've seen), so if you're expecting what you'd normally expect from Hilton, you will definitely be disappointed. I'd rate is toward the low to mid end of a 3* property. Of course, we only stayed there... more

Had a very pleasant one night stay here. I found the beds very comfortable and the meals were really nice. Staff were friendly and helpful. Slept really well, much better than in any previous hotels. Was with my young daughter and she slept really well too. Weather outside was very cold. Thought the room was a little cool and wasn't... more

I may have just had a bad room but this was a terrible stay. My room was on the side of the hotel facing a very busy road and the road noise kept me awake. This would be normal in a cheap lodge style hotel but I would expect decent glazing to prevent the worst of the noise. To make... more

Me and my partner stay at this Hilton Hotel every August for the race meet with approx. 8 other couples. We prefer this Hilton hotel to the Hilton North as there is a Tesco store directly behind it where we can stock up on our supplies and there is also a shopping outlet with stores such as Next, Dorothy Perkins... more

It looks good when you arrive and the receptionist was efficient. The room was basic, the bathroom functional. To be honest, at 60 quid a night in the UK you get used to not expecting a lot but this is supposed to be a Hilton. The major problem was the small double bed was one of the least comfortable ever!... more

This is one of two Hiltons in Newbury. I have stayed in it at least once a month for the past two years. Both Hiltons are sub-standard, but this one is much closer to being acceptable. In fact it is constantly full weeks in advance. The common areas are presentable, the restaurant food is OK, at times really good, breakfasts... more

It cannot be a real Hilton. Uppon checking in I was automatically upgraded (Hilton Honors) and that made me happy. When I got to my room I thought: I am very glad I got upgraded, because the regular rooms must be horrible. Even with the upgrade - no minibar, no safe, broken hairdryer, windows that did not open properly because... more

I used to stay here regularly for business and so cannot comment on the weekend package deals with children free etc. They sound like good value although why anyone would possibly want to go to Newbury for a weekend is difficult to see. Basically the hotel is great if you're in a Kafkaesque frame of mind and want to sink... more

I wasn't sure what to expect from this hotel. The reviews on here seem very negative, so I guess I feared the worse. The room was a very good size, very quiet and the bed was comfortable. The room desperately needed redocoration BUT was clean and tidy. Breakfast was very good - lots of choice and reasonable quality. Other reviewers... more
