Sometimes we all need to pull the plug and have a peaceful day or two in an environment that makes us forget about the harsh working environment. This place, although located at a convenient distance from some of the busiest cities, is exactly what is needed to slow down and recharge Your batteries. The place has all the facilities You... more

I came for the free Wi-Fi, I stayed for the food. This place is great. The rooms are good, the TV is great, etc. As a hotel room, it certainly meets my expectations. What is amazing is the atmosphere, the friendliness, and most of all the food. The owner is passionate about what he does - the food is spectacular,... more

The food was reaglly authentic and much better than what most of 4 star hotels nearby offer. The menu changes quite often and it seems the chef invents new & innovative dishes with best ingrediants he gets for that day. I have been to many fine-dining experiences even in central London, and I was genuinly impressed with the quality of... more

I really can't understand how this place has such good reviews on tripadviser! We booked on the strength of them thinking we had found a bargain, but sadly not. The room was on the small side, that wasn't a problem really, but the bathroom was absolutely tiny. If you were at all larger then average you'd have a hard time... more

Stayed at the Bell for four nights at the beginning of the year, and was very pleased to see wonderfully clean rooms. I was staying in a very comfortable room, with a flat screen HD TV, which was a great added bonus. All the staff were very welcoming and treated me as part of the family. The food its self... more

Booked 3 rooms, a double, a single and a twin. None of which were up to much. Two were very smelly (damp and musty) so the windows were opened straight away, bathrooms poorly decorated with grotty shower with mold on tiles and the occasional pube. Carpet in bedroom was stained, disfunctional lighting and only 1 thin towel to share between... more

Astounded at the previous review. Stayed at the Bell 2 or 3 times a year since discovering it in 2004. With staying away from home most weekends, from Dundee to Lewes this month, strong views on standards. Rooms more than adequate, being of good size, always clean with powerful showers & generous hospitality trays. Restaurant & bar both interesting decor.... more

My partner and I booked a room for one night while visiting some friends. We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon and we left to meet our friends more or less straight after leaving our bags, therefore we did not have a chance to examine the room properly until when we got back, late at night (too late to... more
