Staying in this hotel was an extremely painful experience. The heating was switched on in the hotel all night and hotel porter indicated that "it just happens". Food was terrible. Rooms are tiny. I would not stay here again. It is the most expensive hotel in central Huddersfield, yet offers no breakfast included in the rate, few in-room facilities, and delivers poor value for money. The outside is very nice and historical, and it's close to the station, which is about the extent of its charm. Any other hotel would be better value... more

Was in Huddersfield on Business and am avid Rugby League supporter so I knew of teh George Hotels History. Fantastic Rugby League Museum in the heart of th hotel! A must when in town. Stayed in March 2007 - Miserable and very unhelpful reception staff, I asked for a non smoking room and did not get one, I was told they can not guarantee such a room even I requested it on booking! we stayed at the george for one night as we were going to a nearby resturant for my husbands christmas works party. we were disapointed with the room which had stains on the carpet and the bath grouting were disgusting. the breakfast was ok but the service left a lot to be desired. more
