The approach and architecture of the hotel would indicate a cold, formal and rather dowdy venue. This is a miss-conception. The staff are efficient, the rooms spacious, clean and well appointed. All the staff were charming and helpful. The reason for my stay was to attend a conference and the hotel catered for all our needs. The location is just... more

We booked the Cedar Court last minute, as a couple with one member disabled and in an electric scooter. I only checked on here the night before and was horrified by the reviews thinking what have we done. I needen't have worried, the decor wasn't 'dated' to any real degree. If you are used to 'boutique' hotels (with boutique prices)... more

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times, as have my colleagues, the facilities are dated, as service regularly poor. As a result we only use it as a last resort, and because of it's proximity to the M62. Rooms are spacious, but in need of modernisation. Arriving after a long drive in near freezing conditions I was... more

I would not rate this a 4* hotel (or even a 3* actually) Entrance door handle spring broken so electronic key was hard to operate, Toilet wouldnt flush. Windows left wide open in 1 degree and high winds so room freezing (why?) Desk seat had a big gash in the seat..not very clean? Ive stopped in local hotels which are... more

It was a new year's eve hogmany night with overnight stay, meal, tribute band and ceilidh band. On arrival no wall lights working and no tea bags left in room so had to ring reception to sort it out. We were placed in a very shoddy corner with exceptionally draught doors under a air conditioning vent which was blowing out... more

Stayed here twice midweek in October 08. Agree with those reviewers who criticise its outdated décor. Twenty years overdue for update and looks tired. Restaurant much more modern and looked good. Food – just had a dental extraction so could eat only mushy stuff. Requested mash and scrambled eggs and received it. Very good. Staff friendly. Only criticism of restaurant... more

booked this hotel for last minute family birthday get-together , 3 rooms needed. Booking was simple and the process swift. I mentioned it was my birthday and received free goodies (robes, slippers, 2 bottles of wine, bottled water and internet credit voucher ). Rooms were very nice and clean. We booked in for a Tribute band evening (Take That) which... more

I really can't understand some of the reviews on here so had to write one myself. The rooms face either a quiet residential street (the M62 is close, but you can't hear it) or a quiet courtyard. When I stayed the staff advised me that there was a wedding on that night and moved my room to the back of... more

We booked the hotel last minuet as we were visiting friends in the area and didn't want to drive home. Unfortunately the hotel was not at all nice. As many people have commented it's very 1970s. Staffs are friendly enough which seems to be the hotels only redeeming feature. We decided to have breakfast in the room, and to be... more

Having stayed here for 2 nights a week for the last few weeks due to family commitments locally, we have this hotels dramatically changing review pattern sussed! There are 2 main sides to the hotel - one is older in décor and faces the M62 - we had our first uncomfortable experience of this on our last visit - the... more
