We were visiting Canterbury and surrounding areas and decided to stay in Folkestone as all reasonably priced hotels in Canterbury were full. The Burlington caught our eye as it was cheap but the hotel looked as it had character. We were a bit dubious at first due to the price (£70 inc 20% promotional discount for 2 nights) , but... more

This hotel looks really impressive. It is a purpose built property. The location is excellent - about 400 yards from the centre of Folkestone. If only it lived up to the image. On arrival, for a three night stay, we were required to pay up front. Hardly a warm welcome ! Additionally, the receptionist failed to notice that we were... more

Our room was grim, fraying carpet, badly chipped bath and a toilet that looked as though it hadn't seen bleach in a v long time. We didn't even stay the night after seeing the room. The staff however were very friendly and could not fault them. This hotel really does need a refurb. more

We didn't have many expectations for Folkestone as friends and I just came to run the recent half-marathon. We were pleasantly surprised and used other Trip Advisor reviews to stay here amongst the other choices. It was also great proximity to the starting line on the Leas so we could stroll out of our room just minutes before the race.... more

It's a relatively large hotel, located about 100 metres from the sea and pebble beach. The staff are quite friendly. The rooms are quite small, they come equipped with a TV and kettle. It has some limited parking with very small spaces, great for a mini but you might have fun trying to park a 4x4. However, when I was... more

I booked with the Holiday Inn in Folkestone for an overnight stay before my trip on the CHunnel to France. I am a lone parent with a six year old daughter so I needed the break before my long drive through France. The Holiday Inn rang me to say they had doubel booked and therefore moved me to another hotel... more

Edwardian hotel with lots of lovely features. Rooms large, comfortable, very clean with good facilities. Many standard rooms had sea view. Service - minimal but 24 hrs. Breakfast - if you pay £9.50 for a continental breakfast, you expect bread rolls, and more than one type of cold meat. There were some mini croissants/ pastries but limited. Very poor value.... more

We decided to take a short break and visited the White Cliff of Dover – a place which had been on our “sites to see” list. We didn’t want to stay in Dover but somewhere within easy access and went to the Burlington Hotel in Folkestone instead. The rooms were spacious and clean and people were very friendly. The hotel... more

I stayed in a single room for a night at £43 and was pleased with what I got. It's a pleasant old hotel with some nice features, such as a grand staircase with stained glass windows and a couple of cosy lounge areas - with wifi access. I'd much prefer to stay in a place like this, even if there... more

Our room was very large and well appointed with a separate bathroom and shower. The hotel is a classic late Victorian/Edwardian building and appears to be well kept. There is a good restaurant which has a full a la carte menu. We just stayed for one night en route to France vis the Cannel Tunnel. However the hoel would be... more
