I found the Southcliff through the AA site and booked directly with the Hotel. On arrival they told me where I could park my motorbike safely (a big plus), checked me in quickly and told me what I needed to know. My room was big with a nice firm double bed, clean bedding, towels etc etc. The bathroom was small... more

i had an enjoyable weekend here ,& really could not fault this hotel, bearing in mind it is only a 2 STAR. our room was on the 3rd floor, and was comfy with far reaching views over the channel, the bed was huge ,and en-suite was well equipped & lots of hot water, beutifull white towels.Breakfast was very good and service of teas... more

We were a little worried after reading some previous reviews ,but were pleasantly surprised. This was a short break for the Bank Holiday with a local coach company and for £99 with a trip to France included it was excellent value for money. Yes, the staff are casually dressed but they more than make up for this in their friendliness... more

This hotel promised a lot but delivered little. Thank goodness we only stayed for one night... When we arrived the hotel appeared a good choice. We were greeted by a poilte professional gentleman (who turned out to be the duty manager) who checked us in and gave us our key and directions to our room. The journey to our room... more

Well positioned overlooking the sea and close to the Leas Cliff Hall theatre. We paid for a sea view and weren't disappointed but the room smelt smokey or damp. It was a little dated, but functional. Service was fine, breakfast served quickly and good wholesome British food. Car parking is a bit of a problem, but we managed to find... more

Stayed at this hotel for 1 night - arrived late in the evening and left early the next morning. Paid 50 pound for a double room inc breakfast - I think this was a deluxe room (pretty standard if you ask me) as it had a balcony and sea view. Room is basic - but beddings was clean. Bathroom was... more

Lovely location with great views and seemed like a pretty cool area. Hotel sort of old fashioned but has a very modern bar downstairs which was busy and fun. Bedroom was good at least the bed was and I slept like a log (that might have been from the English wind and rain, I was exhausted). Great view over the... more

After booking a small break through our local coach company we checked this site to get a lowdown on the hotel. After reading the reviews we were worried but as our coach operator told us that they had been visiting the hotel without previous complaint we decided to give it a try only to find out on the return trip... more

We went to the South Cliff for a four night stay through a national coach company. On arrival we were allocated our room and we were shocked when we opened the door !! . The bathroom was disgusting , it looked like it had not been cleaned ever!!!!!!!!!, dirty sanitry fittings (toilet seat etc) the lino tiled floor had seen... more

Once again trip advisor used as a grudge site. We do remember the customer and her complaint about the bathroom. The Toilet seat had vert de gris on the hinge (brass) and a yellow line on the inside . We changed the seat. For our interest we dip this seat in pure bleach. After an hour it was still there....

We stayed at the Southcliff as part of a coach tour during the recent hot weather. We were allocated a room on the fourth floor which entailed a trek up eight flights of stairs in the searing heat through single-file only corridors to our room (the lift was so old, we daren't risk it) . The room, was clean and... more

To re-assure the customer, the lift cabin is old (showing the craftsmanship of our forefathers), but the machinery is recent. Both our lifts are regularly serviced and rarely breakdown
