The room was pleasent enough for one night although could do with a couple of extra towels and the person on reception was very friendly this was all completely let down by the breakfast they served which to be honest was shocking to say the least, the toast was so cold and hard i think it had been toasted about... more

This is a dreadful hotel. Me and my young family (fiancee, 3 year old and 11 month old) stayed here for my brother-in law's wedding weekend. The Sandgate offered the wedding party a reduced tariiff on all rooms- £70 per night. My mother in law made the reservation and specified that one of the rooms would need to accommodate a... more

Around Christmas my wife and I were visiting from California, and we stayed at the Sandgate for several nights. The rooms were wonderful, warm, and cozy. The staff was not only efficient, but good company as well. Every morning we'd have breakfast outside, right across from the beach. Next time I'm there I hope they have a room available. more

We called in for lunch between Christmas and New Year. The food was below average and service poor. It took over an hour for sandwiches and omelettes to arrive at our table. The restaurant was empty and although we were a party of 8 I would expect better service. I think that only one chef and one barmaid were working.... more

We stayed here for two nights whilst attending a wedding locally. The accommodation cost us 80 pound per night for a twin room (myself and my dad). Overall, our experience was extremely pleasant. The room, whilst small, was clean, and had been modernised as much as possible (LCD TV, modern furniture etc.). The building is old, so you need to... more

Pretty awful! I tried to book this hotel for New Year and was astounded how unorganised and remiss the whole management operation was. I visited the hotel and expressed an interest in early September and then followed this up with an email. I then received an out of office response saying the manager would deal with festive bookings on her... more

Went for a weekend away here after seeing it well reviewed in the Guardian - thought hotel was in a very good location, especially in the sunshine (as with last weekend ) as it has rooms and terrace that overlook the beach, and the chance to sit out and soak up the sun . Food is also very, very good,... more

Parking is along the road opposite the hotel (very limited spaces at the rear) - the road along the seafront can get very busy at times (took us a while to get across safely). Room not large but comfortable and clean enough (despite the stained carpet) - bathroom was adequate. Seaview was very nice but with the window open we... more

We stayed with our baby daughter for two nights on a Friday and Saturday. This is a lovely hotel on the seafront and the service we received from the manager and staff there was outsanding, they were also very friendly. We had a room on the top floor which meant a few flights of stairs but I gather these were... more

First of all the service was very very poor, waiters were rude and onproffessional. The food on the other hand was great! The rooms were ok, but the breakfast was terrible!!! So, nice cooking chef! Anything else very cheap! B.Rantong, Eindhoven the Netherlands more
