We arrived on the ferry and the hotel was right there at the terminal. Lovely setting, very welcoming staff. We had booked a front room with a view and were not disappointed. It was lovely, spacious and the view was spectacular. Very quiet at the time we were there, it livened up a bit at dinner time, when the restaurant... more

We chose the hotel as a trip down memory lane, having spent easters as a child in the nearby caravan park, and having very fond memories of the wee shop and the ferries. Our stay didnt start off too well however, my husband being very fussy about where he stays and the dawning realisation that the website gave a too... more

The Royal Marine has great views, competent management and helpful staff combined with clean, comfortable rooms and fine food. You could not ask for more in a hotel. The convenient location right by the Western Ferries terminal makes the hotel easy to get to and it is a great location for motoring around the Argyll & Bute area and further... more

We stayed for a weekend to see friends in the area. To be greeted by the owners upon arrival was the start of a brilliant time in this lovely hotel. Staff attention to detail was brilliant and the breakfasts wonderful - even the chef came out to ensure we had enjoyed the meal. The room with a wonderful sea view... more

We had a winter weekend break with some friends, and the hotel staff were wonderful. Our room had a view over the loch to the rolling hills beyond, and one can watch the ferries as they ply their way across the water. The building is interesting, lovely Victorian stained glass, and good quality furnishings so it has a very welcoming... more

Two frienda and myself decided to hold a joint 70th Birthday party. Dunoon was deemed a suitable venue and we went into the Marine and met Shirley the owner. We told her of our plans to provtde a meal and entertainment for around 70 people. Shirley was most helpful and we discussed everything from menu down to what flowers we... more

i didn't try any of the food but i found the hotel to be clean (although the bathroom could do with the sealant being replaced, etc, etc), the staff i encountered were polite and attentive and i had no problems with the hotel at all. more

Staff were nice and we couldn't fault them BUT.. We were in a room at the back, which I understand, are no way near as nice as the ones at the front. The windows were so high we had very little daylight and it felt a little bit like a prison!!. It was clean though. Although we didn't pay too... more

We found that the staff were very welcoming and friendly and the hotel had a warm family style atmosphere. I had a room looking out the front of the hotel to where the ferries dock and the view across the water is beautiful. The ferries run early in the morning to about 10 at night but I did not notice... more

The Cowal peninsula is beautiful, but especially so in autumn. The Royal Marine is an ideal base for touring and the hotel is comfortable and clean, the staff are friendly and the dining room is good without being exceptional. We will certainly return next autumn. more
