I stayed at the Royal Dunkeld Hotel for one Saturday night in March, and had the sole use of a twin room in the annexe. This is a block of wooden chalets which look as if they had been transported from a post war holiday camp to the back yard of the hotel. The entrance to each room was down... more

I recently spent 5 nights staying in the Royal Dunkeld Hotel. I found the staff professional and discreet. The hotel were even kind enough to lend me the use of a laptop when I was having problems with mine. A nice hotel in beautiful surroundings. I will be visiting again. J.Lempereur more

Located in the wooded Perthshire glens of Scotland, next to the infamous River Tay, The Royal Dunkeld is the perfect accomodation for any Scottish holiday, whether your interests are swayed towards nature, history, outdoor pursuits, walking or just relaxing in this magnificant scenery. I have recently returned from a few nights stay at the Royal Dunkeld and I am pleased... more

We stayed in two annex rooms. One bed wasn't made properly and there was a lot of blue ink on one of the sheets. The rooms were quite dirty. We complained and they came the next day to give them a good clean but many things were still dirty after this good clean. The breakfast was good and the staff... more

We just dropped in to Dunkeld/Birnham on our first night in Scotland, as it seemed a characteristic, charming and historic area, without being too twee. Lucky to get a room at the Royal at reduced rates (it was apparently a slow night, in spite of being high season). Very pleasant hotel and room, the bar service was fine, but the... more

I booked this over the phone and the young lady who handled the booking was very efficient indeed. Now I am a Scotsman and I often find staying in Scottish hotels to be a strangely depressing ( and expensive) experience. But the Royal Dunkeld Hotel is a very pleasant place to stay. As is usual in these places, they are... more

I recently stayed at this hotel for one night. It was satisfactory, and would have been much better, had it not been for a coach party. Consequently, we couldn't get served for dinner in the restaurant, so we had to have a bar meal, and we were put out of the way at breakfast, and very nearly forgotten. That said,... more

We visited the Royal Dunkeld Hotel in early August 2005. The reception staff were very helpful. We only wanted to stay for one night and were offered one of the lodges, which are just behind the main hotel. These are twin-bedded, but fine for one night and have a shower room, tea and coffee making facilities etc. My main gripe... more

Stayed for 3 nights and the room, although small, had everything you would expect. The problems lie with very indifferent staff in the restaurant and bars. The lounge bar, Gargoyles, is more reminiscent of a tea room, seems to have no permanent staff and you have to wait until they've finished chatting in the bar before serving you. A bar... more

My wife and I are on a fast tour of Scotland and wanted somewhere central from where we could explore the countryside. We booked at the Royal largely because of the good reviews here. We were slightly concerned by the one bad review, but it was reassuring to see all the others were positive. We were swayed by the fact... more
