Stayed here for 2 nights for a nearby wedding. The hotel is in Tintern which is 4 miles from Chepstow so we had to get taxis everywhere. The hotel is a 2 min walk from Tintern Abbey. We were greeted with a friendly smile on arrival and the receptionist answered all our questions and showed us to our nice room... more

As with so many Tripadvisor reviews, what you think of a place depends on your usual expectations. If you are used to staying at flashy modern hotels, you won't like this place. But it is an old pub in front, and they have built an extension out the back which houses most if not all of the rooms. Yes, the... more

Stayed for one night for a friends wedding. Very beautiful location in the Wye Valley. Rooms- We had nice room which was bright and airy. It was an upstairs room on the back block with a veranda. Lovely on a clear morning to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee overlooking the gardens! Clean room with good size bathroom (although... more

We can only state what we found here Yes the rooms and decor are tired however the prime location, good old fashion comfort of this time capsule hotel and excellent service from all of the staff more than compensated. We ate in the resturant both evenings the food was very good and the romantic ambiance was perfect. It was just... more

We only stayed for 1 night and that was more than enough, the hotels in a lovely setting but it needs a good make over and a bit of tlc. The food was what i can only call dreadfull, the soup was no more than warm flavoured water and the meat was ineadable, ive never had such tough meat, the... more

We really enjoyed our one-night stay at this hotel. The decor in the room needs a bit of updating but the king sized bed and free wireless access more than made up for this. We had originally planned to find a pub for dinner but after checking out the options decided to book a table in the hotel. We weren't... more

We've been travelling in Wales over Easter, and it was by far the best hotel among those we stayed at. Paid 63 pounds for a double room incl breakfast. We got upgraded for free as Best Western club members; so cannot judge on standard double though. Ours was wonderful, set in the gardens, separate entrance from the street, - so... more

Samantha and James, the new owners, are working their socks off to get this hotel into shape. Already you get what you need, incredibly helpful staff, excellent food (freshly cooked breakfast is superb) and a bed in which you can sleep comfortably. Improvements are ongoing and the low prices reflect the fact that the decor is jaded. My wife, mother-in-law... more

After reading recent reviews we were rather anxious about staying but we needn't have worried. Our room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean overlooking a beautiful garden where we could eat or have drinks. The staff were very welcoming and the food was good The breakfasts were a bit limited in choice..although the hot part of the breakfast had more... more

Well I totally agree with Zippy11 the place is a disgrace, don't be deceived by a 17th century inn, we expected a quaint cosy inn, instead we were put in a chalet type room it was disgusting, it obviously hadn't been decorated for over 20 years, wallpaper was coming off, there were chunks out of the furniture, doors wouldn't close... more
