The Chepstow Hotel is about 10 minutes walk away from the centre and so in that respect it is quiet and out of the way. We enjoyed the walk, however it is at the top of a steep hill so anyone who is physically challenged will probably want a taxi. The hotel itself is badly in need of an update... more
My wife and I booked a twin room in the Chepstow Hotel for one night while visiting the local hospital. We chose it for convenience. Reception area is nice food ok but typical basic pub grub, steak scampi all the usual suspects. Hotel is in need of a serious makeover, both old and new rooms are shocking the sort of place where you consider sleeping fully clothed. Certainly wouldn’t recommend it more
On the plus side: The hotel is clean and quite attractive looking and breakfast, when I finally got it, was quite good. However: When we checked in, we were not shown to our room and we were not asked if we wanted help with our luggage. We paid UKP 69 per night for a family room with a double bed and double sofa-bed in Apr 2006. The room was fine with TV, decent shower, hospitality tray, hair dryer.
