We have just returned from a long weekend in Hay-on-Wye. A beautiful little market town on the welsh borders, with lots of second hand bookshops and antique shops not to mention some nice restaurants. I highly recommend where we stayed - Els Cottage, a house right in the town, a great location. It's lovely and peaceful and some nice views from the bedrooms. I think they have only just started doing holiday lets, so everything looks brand new. The owners were really helpful and although it's self catering they'll even lay on food for you on arrival if you pre order, we had a great steak and kidney pie for 6 which was welcome after our drive from London (about 3.5 hours). Hay itself it a perfect little getaway, such a quiet pace of life but lots to do too. Very relaxing. We shall definitely be returning. more
