What you see is what you get. It's not posh and it's not "modern" but it is clean, it is friendly and it is exactly what it says it is. A good value place to comfortably lay your head in the heart of the peak district. The rooms are well equipped with a plentiful supply of tea, coffee and milk.... More

I stayed at the Cheese for two nights with some mates on a walking weekend - it was an ideal location; the rooms were clean and fresh and located in the barn across the road from the pub - very quiet at night. The locals were very friendly and we got chatting to a few of them; one even bought... More

We'd seen this pub advertised in a food guide so decided to visit for a snack and beer. As the weather was very cold we were pleased to see an open fire. However after sitting waiting for our soup and sandwich (for quite a long time) we still couldn't take off our coats and gradually became chilled through. There were... More

We stayed in Longnor for a week and eat in here our first night. Food was good alright for quick pub grub had veggie lasagna with chips and my boyfriend had steak pie. Good choice on menu. Staff friendly. Drank in here few times after nothing bad to say.

Ate and drank here with a few friends one Saturday afternoon. The place is a bit dingy and worn, but the girl behind the bar was very friendly. The beer was well kept and juke box had some great music on it. My burger anc hips were nice. Only slightly weird thing is that not one of the chips on... More

Lovely pub with traditional pub meals and drinks. Nice atmosphere especially sat in front of the open fire. Staff were particularly helpful at providing food to take away for friends who had late evening, thank you very much!

Stayed here for a couple of nights 21/22 September having booked through last minute. Be warned - the village is quite remote and a bit tricky to find, though lovely. The rooms are across the road in a block which is nice and quiet, and the room was clean and reasonably well equipped for the price. I'd booked a twin... More

stayed here on friday 31st August. when we arrived the place was closed and there was a note under the entrance door saying that the owners had had to go out but the key to our room was in the door with directions to our room, i thought this was a bit strange as we had previously given an approximate... Stopped by the Inn Saturday 25th August. The village itself is wonderful and the cleanliness worthy of applause. We waited for the place to open as we arrived early and had walked around taking in the atmosphere. The patio area to the front had wonderful hanging baskets but the floor was spoilt by spent cigarette ends. On opening we were... More

Regular drinkers and eaters in the Cheese. Lynne's Beef and stilton pie is amazing, can't get enough of it. Good pool table and the juke box is up to date with all the latest songs. Good choice of beers and spirits. And always someone in there to have a good chatter too.
