We were offered the room 'Mary's Bower' for a special price (74 quid) as it was mid-winter and mid-week. This was a fantastic deal and we thoroughly enjoyed our night in this beautiful and historic room. The hotel itself is slightly tatty but not too bad, and overall very charming, and its location is as good as it gets for... More

Please note - this review is only of the Wine Bar. Had a meal in the Wine Bar with high hopes, having read the reviews. Pork was dry and very overcooked and the burger was worse than any high street takeaway, plate was bulked out with a huge bread roll and mostly red onion salad. Was not asked during the... More

Having read your review several times, I would firstly like to apologise that your expereince in our Wine Bar was not a positive one. For a person passionate in the industry I obviously really dislike hearing that our customers are dissatisfied. Our Buffalo burgers are sourced from a reputable supplier in Chesterfield and I can only apologise that on this... More

A very enjoyable visit to The Opera House on 8/01/2012 was crowned by a night at the Old Hall. The whole experience was so much more pleasurable than the large corporate Hotel chains. This was true from booking over the phone to the welcome we received on Sunday evening right through to the excellent breakfast and departure on Monday. One... More

I booked a one night b&b stay for my husband and I as we were attending a concert and dinner at the Opera House. The hotel was busy with a wedding and their own New Year's eve party; however, the staff made us very welcome and were friendly, courteous and helpful. We had a very comfortable night and delicious breakfast... More

excellent stay in a peaceful, old fashioned but by no means basic hotel. Welcome glass of bubbly on arrival. Room small but clean, with comfortable bed. Windows you can open hurray! Food first class, both supper and breakfast. The best service we've had in a long time. English speaking staff, all requests accommodated. Will definately stay here again and revisit... More

I had my wedding reception in the Orchestra Pit at The Old Hall in October. The venue was fabulous and everyone commented on how unusual it was. The hotel is steeped in History which, if you take the time to learn a little about adds to the charm of the place. Its said to be the oldest hotel in Britain... More

We recently re-visited the Old Hall for a one-night stay to tie in with an evening at the Opera House. This is very interesting, historic hotel, perfectly located between the Opera House, the park and the town centre. There is choice for dining - either the more formal restaurant or the modern bistro-type wine bar. The food is excellent whichever... More

We had our wedding here on the 12/11/11 and it was the best day ever!! I wouldn't change a thing. From the initial planning stages, the friendliness and organisation of our planner Vicky was second to none. Everything went very smoothly, the room looked beautiful for the ceremony and wedding breakfast which was held in the dining room. All candle... More
