I'm perplexed by the majority of reviews about this hotel which are very complementary. My views I'm afraid are very much the opposite. We were checked in efficiently and told where our room was. Room 209, tucked away up a narrow staircase in the eaves. First impressions were disappointing. Tired, wood-chip wallpaper, drab and depressing. Second impressions were no better.... more

A friend and I stayed here for three nights. We really enjoyed our stay, all the staff were friendly and the meals[ breakfast and dinner] were well presented and tasty. The rooms were clean and beds were very comfortable. The only fault was the bathroom which needed updating, the tile grouting needed renewing, the shower curtain was torn and when... more

Very friendly and welcoming staff, rooms a little small but with excellent facilities. The hotel is set in a great location handy for the town centre, the gardens and the Opera House. Breakfast is included and is individually cooked for you, and the evening meals are better than many of Bustons restaurants. We keep coming back to this hoitel and... more

Very handy for walk into town centre. We stayed at Easter so room rate seemed good value at £70 prpn., incl breakfast. Helpful & pleasant staff. Only time we saw other guests was at breakfast time. Breakfast (the only meal we had) was fine, without being exciting. The normal fare of juice, cereal, some fruit and various options for hot... more

Enjoyed a one night stay at the Alison Park recently . First impressions were good , ample sized car park for the size of hotel and on impressive tudor facade to the front of the building . Check in was quick and efficient . The room was ok , decor was a little dated in both the bedroom and the... more

Good and quiet location for all attractions with off road parking. Friendly hotel staff, rooms of a good standard and lounge areas suitable for a group to chat. Would without reservations recommend the hotel. more

Only stayed one night but wished we could have stayed longer. We were only in town for a Saw Doctors gig at the Buxton Opera House (a mere ten minutes or so away, strolloing through a beautiful park). We loved the place as soon as we walked in; a very handsome buliding in the "arts and crafts" style, and, though... more

Stayed here for just one night with my family. The family room we had was a good size with a double and two singles at a reasonable price. The room and bathroom were very clean even if a little dated. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and we would certainly stay here again. more

I stayed for 4 nights and was pleased with the outcome. Breakfast was good and the place was quiet. The location is ideal and I enjoyed my walks in the town through the gardens. It was also ideally placed for Poole's Cavern. I would stay here again. more

I stayed here twice, on the inward and outward days of a week-long walking holiday. I had had a disaster with British Airways failing (yet again) to put my luggage on the same flight as me and arrived at the hotel without it. The man on the desk, whose name I'm afraid I have forgotten, was very pleasant and couldn't... more
