Finding inexpensive accommodation is near impossible in Buxton. Our room at the Westminster cost us £70 for the night, bed and breakfast - but after reviewing several others in the area this seems like a bit of a bargain. Firstly, an explanation why £70 is a bit steep. The Westminster is not a hotel - it's definitely a B&B -... more

We stayed 2 nights for a large family gathering in the area. The welcome was very courteous and helpful, the room comfortable and spotless and the breakfast was excellent. A special mention for the people who served breakfast and generally looked after us. I would not look elsewhere in Buxton unless I were seeking all the bells and whistles with... more

This is a splendid small hotel in the traditional Derbyshire style, not a grand hotel with massive public rooms of course but small friendly and intimate. Breakfast is excellent and the lounge very comfortable. We have been going there for some years. more

This hotel/bed & breakfast is in a great location on the Broad Walk in Buxton, only moments away from the theatre and lively bars. Yes it is called a hotel, I would say more a b&b, but netherless the rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Some areas of repair needed but very good otherwise. The breakfast was large and plentiful... more

We stayed for two nights in January 2009. The owner was friendly and helpful from the start - she even gave me a tube of glue when I told her the sole of my walking boot was coming off! The second floor room we stayed in was warm, spacious and had good views of the pavillion gardens. The large ensuite... more

I have rated this hotel as 'above average' based on my experience of this and hotels in the same price bracket. Yes there is room for improvement, but the stay was good value. The previous reviewer seems to have expected a top-notch hotel with concierge, bar and restaurant, and I suggest in future the cheapskate tries The Palace or Old... more

Not by any stretch of the imagination could this be called a hotel, actually it is misrepresentation. At best it is a third rate b & b. Literature quotes it as having a bar - it does not, unless you count a very small glass fronted fridge with a couple of bottles in it, sited in a corner of the... more

We booked an overnight stay as we were visiting the area. On arriving in the evening, we were not greeted in a friendly manner. On checking in the room, we found that the toilet would not flush and the sink kept overflowing. As it was a little late, my husband took a hands on approach and managed to flush the... more

We had 5 nights at the Westminster in august 2007. On our arrival we were met by the owner who seemed very pleasant but we never saw her again for the rest of the stay. The room was clean and spacious with a view over the lovely Pavillion Gardens. Breakfast was OK but served by different people evry single day... more
