Not in the centre of Buxton and if you are going to the Theatre its a walk up hill back. Strange smell of blocked drains on the road outside and close to the railway line. Rooms quite nice but cant get access to afternoon a bit of a draw back. more

Dear Easyrider45 I am surprised about your comments regarding location. A regular comment from guests is ‘An excellent location’. We are less than 5 minutes walk from the Market Place (which by the way is all on the flat) where the majority of pubs and restaurants are located, and where all the buses stop. From there it is only a...
The Old Manse is easy to find and is a few blocks from Upper Buxton. Our room(#3) was clean and large and very comfortable. Sally and Simon are very friendly and helpful and do a nice job with breakfast whether you get the Full English or have the continental. more
The owners were very friendly. It's well located just a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Buxton and all it's ammenities. The quality of the locally produced ingredients used for the cooked breakfast ensured it was delicious! We will definitely stay there again and take our two children too, we viewed the familiy rooms while we were there,... more
We stayed at the Old Manse for a couple of nights in March on the basis of the excellent ratings it has on Trip Advisor, but it didn't live up to expectations. While there was nothing to complain about, there was nothing to enthuse about either. The bedroom, which had a lot of furniture, was cramped, and the shower room... more
We are sorry that your expectations of being a hotel were not met. We are indeed a Guesthouse, as our literature and website states. We have been struggling with Tripadvisor for some time now to amend our listing and for it to be moved from the Hotel to the B&B section. But can confirm this has now happened. We take...

If you're planning to spend some time in Buxton then The Old Manse is the place to be. We're just back from a 6 day holiday with a three-year old and we're just delighted. Comfortable, cosy room. Excellent breakfast. We even had a late check in on Saturday night and Sally and Simon made arrangements to have us accomodated. Very... more
From the start the whole stay was faultless. We arrived to a spotless, cosy room and very helpful hosts who ran through the best places to eat in the area; fortunately all within 5 mins walk. The icing on the cake was the complimentary chilled bottle of white wine, fresh red rose and home made, heart shaped, shortbread to accompany... more
This place is fantastic value. It's cheap but the rooms we absolutely fine for the price and the owners were very friendly. It's well located just a couple of minute walk from the centre of Buxton and the cooked breakfast (using local ingredients) was one of the best I've had in a long time! We'd definitely stay here again next... more
