I last stayed here for 2 nights last Christmas. I wrote a favourable review, based mainly on the comfort of the bed! This time was rather different. I asked if I could have the same room again (called them twice about this prior to arriving and also included the request on my booking). I did not get the same room... More

Whatley Hall is steeped in history, a lovely old hotel with lots of quirky charm. It has fabulous wood paneling in the lounge, dining room, bar and conference rooms. There are hidden priest-holes and it’s reputedly haunted by Father Bernard - although alas we didn’t get to bump into him! The Christmas decorations were truly stunning especially in the dining... Over the last 3 years I have stayed at this hotel at least 4 times a month, however, the last few times I've been I've been disappointed by the service I've received; the room and bed sheets have been dirty, there's no offer to carry your laugage up the stairs as there's no lift in the old part of the... Pluses- lovely building, good location, very clean, good value, warm, quiet room. One minus, which sadly overshadowed all the above: it doesn't matter how lovely a place is, if you're made to feel utterly unwelcome. We were kept waiting for over 5 mins at reception while the receptionist was on the phone, avoiding eye contact or any acknowledgment of our... More

Stayed here for one night for work Xmas party at the hotel. Cold outside but hotel was toasty and warm... Actually very warm, which became unbearable later on the dance floor! The staff opened windows at breakfast as they were suffering also! Staff were noticeably friendly throughout the hotel from reception staff, cleaners to breakfast staff. Room was a decent... More

The building looks great from the front and the room was also very nice, but I found the security to be very poor. It is possible to access the rooms without going through reception via an unmonitored door at the side of the building. There is a camera monitoring the car park, but the door is accessible from the street... More

The room was comfortable but access might be a little difficult for the infirm. I was conscious of conversations in the adjoining room when trying to sleep. Car parking was at a premium even though there was a large carpark it was pretty full and it was not entirely clear whether I was parking on hotel property or that belongingto... More

We went as a short break to visit Oxford and Stratford, so Banbury was pretty much in the middle. The hotel is a very impressive looking building. Very old coaching inn with lots of wood-pannelling. However, it is not at all stuffy - the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The room was very good in terms of size and... More
