We decided to stay in Banbury for a night to break a long journey and as Banbury is just off the M40 it was an ideal choice. Hotel is in a fantastic location next to 'Banbury' cross in the centre of town. Hotel has it's own free car prak which is also a bonus. Staff were excellent, friendly and nothing... more

Checked in late at 10.30pm but had phoned ahead to ensure the hotel knew. Reception received on arrival compared favourably to a watered down version of Basil Fawlty. Explained I had been disappointed that I had not managed to book a promotional room (better value) was met with a blank expression and ignored. Bar service was appallingly, a queue had... more

Having read previous reviews on this hotel our expectations were not very high. We were however pleasently suprised. The staff were all very helpful and polite. Table service at both Breakfast and Dinner was attentive and once again the staff were polite and helpful. The food quality was good and prices reflect normal hotel rates ( expensive if not included... more

Whately Hall is just OK, and a bit overpriced. We stayed four nights, and the room was modest but fine. Bathroom was clean but curiously they only put out one large bathtowel for two people?! We found some more in the top of the closet. Hallways are claustrophobicly (is there such a word?) narrow in the newer part of the... more

The room I stayed in was tiny by most US or UK standards, and that is the highlight of my stay. The hot water was hit or miss, most showers we're never really hot enough, and then there was the front desk staff. The front desk staff was somewhere between indifferent to passively aggressive. I discovered the mini fridge wasn't... more

I just came back from two nights at the hotel. Nothing terribly bad about it but it is grossly overpriced. The basic rooms are over $200 per night for something that in the US would be close to $70 or $80. The room is a decent size without being generous but with "distressed" furniture, and I don't mean that in... more

Stayed here for one night in August. The hotel has a limited amount of parking at the rear of the property but spaces are very tight so beware of parking next to any large vehicles. The hotel is based right in the centre of Banbury on the main road next to an Odeon cinema and the exterior of the hotel... more

Booked off the street after we left a disastrous hotel in Kenilworth. Quiet spacious twin overlooking the well-cared for garden. Excellent breakfast. Charming staff. more

Jon Plymouth UK. Stayed in this hotel 240407. Good location and Hotel nice enough but for the money never worth it. Rood very hot including when the window was open. No sound proofing so lots of traffic noise especially first thing in the morning. Probably (and honestly) the worst breakfast I have ever had whilst away. Service very slow and... more

I stayed 3 nights in August. Room was good size, with separate living room, and teh public areas of the hotel were very pleasant. My problems with the hotel are as follows: - be warned: if you have a room at the front of the hotel it can get very noisy at night with drunken teens as the hotel is... more
