We selected this hotel as it was marked with 4-stars. There was no window or ventilation in the bathroom and this was compensated by an air freshner placed on top of the wardrobe. The Conningbrook is an entirely functional hotel. We arrived, checked in and found our way to our room all completely uneventfully. The public areas are tatty and urgently need repainted and something needs to be done about the creaking floorboards which seem to be everywhere; corridor, bedroom and bathroom. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts were good. Other than that it was pretty poor - sheets were clean but the rooms weren't. The whole place was pretty shabby and needed a lick of paint. more
