Value for money , clean tidy rooms , good ale , reasonable food . The staff were all helpful and easy to get on with and very accomodating. This place has bags of character and the locals are friendly. If you want perfection go to a expensive hotel but if you want value for money and a relaxed atmosphere with... more

Stayed here for one night as we were attending a local event. Hoped it would be so much better than it was. Food in the restaurant was acceptable but only just - chicken wings were the smallest I have ever seen and for a restaurant to be unable to provide onion rings ("we have run out") at 7.30pm on a... more

Nothing whatsoever to complain about. A beautiful old building that is absolutely facinating, The beer is the best, the food is incredible, and the price is half what I normally pay. Bar staff are all nice, the locals are also very nice, parking is secure and a few steps from the door. The room was warm and the facilities were... more

As mentioned by another Tripadvisor member, a cheap nights stopover from Dover to Cornwall or otherwise. An all-in-one room for the four of us. Basic interior and very traditional kitchen. The food wasn't that spectacular. Friendly landlady. Not a word to much or less from the owners or staff. If your looking for a sleeping place, it's okay, but expect... more

Arrived for just one evening on the Saturday after a very enjoyable visit to the nearby Haynes Motor Museum which is excellent. This seems to be the only pub in the area and is more than reasonable - good real ales, local cider in bottles, a tasty carvery (I'm always worried by carverys, but this had fresh veg not cooked... more

Located just off the A303, this is a solid country pub. It's not totally old-fashioned, but it's not a Harvester-style barn either. The room was huge, clean and properly furnished (we were in the main pub building, there's also an annexe which we didn't see). We ate in the pub in the evening, and had breakfast the next morning. both... more

I was really disappointed with this hotel. We stayed there after going to a wedding nearby. The room did not feel particularly clean and felt stuffy. There were quite a lot of insects in the room when we arrived. Also there was no air conditioning, and the room backed on to the A303 so it meant we could not sleep... more

We were not sure where we would stay the night we were in this area and were more than pleased to find this little inn right where we needed it. I was hoping for authentic and found it here. The pub takes up most of the ground floor and check in is near the back. We were given a nice... more

If needing a cheap nights stopover enroute to Cornwall like we did, then this place is ideal as long as you don't expect any frills. The room was very basic but had everything that was needed and was clean. Breakfast was lovely and the evening food we could not fault also. Staff were friendly and helpful. Was nice to spend... more
