The Mermaid was originally a 15th Century Coachhouse and its layout is quite quaint. The staff are its biggest asset and couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Previous criticism OTT. Rooms in need of further update, especially washing/toilets, but otherwise more than suited our needs. Staff were friendly, obliging and efficient. Beer and food excellent. the staff could not do enough for us they were extremly helpful in every way . we all ate in the restraunt where the food was excellent .the rooms could do with some updating and are a bit basic . other wise it was a little gem for a short stay. we would stay there again more

Room was painted dark blue over the woodchip wallpaper of which some had clearly been picked off. Unhygenic cork tiles in the bathroom and rust around the plug hole in the sink. Had to pay a £10 deposit for the key! (have never had to do that before). I didn't get any sleep all night as a large noisy extracter... more

First impressions on arriving at the pub was fine , Lack of staff resulted in me hanging around whilst the only member of available staff tried to and failed to use the credit card machine..
