The initial impression of the main manor building, as we drove up to it, was of a rather faded elegance. This carried into the reception area, where there were large public rooms with comfy chairs and a decent sized bar. However, it took approx 10 mins to get any help when we rang the bell (3 times!) at reception. Apparently... more

My wife and I actually won a Greene King weekend break for two in a raffle, so we can't really complain about the value! We spent a while choosing the hotel, and decided that we'd not spent much time in that part of Somerset, so it would make a nice change. When we booked, we were told by Central Reservations... more

A very pleasent long weekend stay. Our room was very clean and the beds were extreemly comfortable with lovely linen. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast menu was exceptionally good. It is a good base to explore the surrounding places of interest. more

We stayed here with the England Shooting Team for our Home International and this hotel and its very friendly staff really made a great base and promoted team 'bonding' to enable us to win this competition. Caroline, Laura, young Paul, Gary and Steve the boss bent over backwards for us! Very reccommended for conferences, weddings and get togethers. more

Having booked our wedding at this hotel and then reading some of the reviews we were starting to get a little worried.......................there was no need at all! Everything was just perfect, Garry and his team worked so hard to make sure everything went as it shouldh've. The room looked wonderful, the food was good and the service was excellent. Our... more

Avoid room 19, infested with carpet moths near to TV - pungent stench! Room 21 just as dirty. Smells in the corridors - creaking floorboards, quite honestly the worst hotel I have stayed in. Reported room 19, changed room - management never offered me any explanation. They obviously think this hotel is clean - its not. Bathrooms appear clean, but... more

The general condition and cleanliness was well below acceptable standards. The room I was booked into was unclean, had a nasty smell and what appeared to be a nest of moths hatching more

All staff on top form. Love to stay in a hotel where people go to have a drink too. Dinner great, breakfast even better - best I've ever seen. Free Wi-Fi was very welcome. Room small but functional - window view restricted though. Only gripes - no reading light in bedroom, bar a little sparse (good ale though). See you... more

On first glance the hotel appears extremely promising, the building itself is very attractive sporting a fine Georgian stone facade and a lovely light conservatory. The welcoming blurb promises staff who’ll make you feel like 'Lord and Lady of the Manor', they DO NOT, and were the staff my servants back in the late seventeen hundreds suffice to say their... more

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for two nights as part of our summer holidays whilst we were touring the West Country. We were charged £200 for two nights' accommodation. Our room was in the Annexe. It was a disgusting room, shabby furniture, dirty carpets, the only chair looked suspiciously like it had a urine stain on it.... more
