There was mould on the wall of my room (see photo). The walls were so thin you could hear every word the people in the next room were saying which wasn't ideal at 2 in the morning. The TV in my room worked, but some of my colleagues were staying in another room and their TV was switching channels all... more

Only stayed one night for a concert at Civic Hall. Good parking at rear of hotel (gated). Room was very hot so requested a fan from reception as stated in room information, but they hadn't realised they were available, mainly becuase they hadn't got any. Otherwise room was OK with large comfy bed, larger than usual tv, good tea making... more

There are a few reviews on late rooms.com that describe this hotel as tired looking, which is a good descripition. From the outside of hotel to the corriders leading to the rooms,to the room itself,i noticed that there were dirty marks all over the place on the walls, shabby doors and skirting boards in need of a good coat of paint and a... more

Arrived on a Sunday night to discover there was no reservation but the receptionist went ahead and made another - there were only 5 guests staying at the hotel that night - lucky! Situated just outside town - less than 5 minutes drive into town. The hotel is very clean and has recently had renovations. Spacious room - Room 95,... more

What can i say, i stayed at the The Connaught Hotel at the beginning of this month and from the minute i walked thru the doors, i felt at home. Staff were very professional and friendly, the food in the restaurant was of real quality and the cleaniliness of the bedrooms was just a bonus. Definitely will stay again. more

We had booked this hotel with some friends purely because of it's location to the Tough Guy competition. The staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was very good and the service was good especially as the hotel was packed with other competitors. We considered skipping breakfast on teh basis of the poor reviews of service but it appears that they... more

I stayed at this Hotel for one night in August, with 3 other friends. We had booked a room each, with breakfast included. We had a great night out at the races and on return to the Hotel we arranged to meet for breakfast the following morning at 09.00. On arriving in the restaurant for breakfast, which was half full,... more

There have been some significant changes since I last stayed. However, it must still be the same manager. The hotel itself has been significantly refurbished and the bedrooms are worlds better than they were. However, the staff while working hard are obviously overworked and under-trained. On the Saturday morning, there was one chef and one waitress for 56 guests. There... more

We needed a place to stay for 2 nights while we waited to move into a flat and chose the Connaught due to its location and were not expecting much, based on earlier reviews. We were very pleasantly surprised. We gather it has fairly recently become a Best Western franchise and has undergone huge refurbishment. We found the staff friendly,... more
