For the traveller, our experience. We were met by owners Jill and Nigel and given a very warm welcome to Chasedale, the hotel is warming, with period features and the grounds are beautiful. We took our Basset Hound and it couldn't have been better, it made our stay perfect. So all you dog owners, Chasedale is the place to stay.... More

The hotel is homely and the owners/staff are friendly and welcoming. Yes, the decor could be upgraded, but everything is clean and well-cared-for. Our bedroom was comfortable, overlooking the large, well-loved garden; and the bathroom was faultless. The hot water did need a bit of time to come through, but the then the lovely large bath was just great for... More

My stay here (as before) in July was much enjoyed. The rooms and grounds are all spacious. The meals very good. The hotel is dog friendly and just round the corner from the hotel is an excellent walk/cycleway one may use to exrcise a dog as well as access local walks in the hills. Views from the hotel are delightful... More

Had some doubts when we arrived at the hotel, felt like a step back to a bygone era, and initially doubted the wisdom of the last minute booking we made. The hotel had an air of being somewhat dated and in need of some care and attention. However, we had a pleasant room, large and spacious. The furniture and bed,... More

A lovely Victorian house with personal attention from the owners. Food excellent, prepared by owners, with excellent choices. The bar, lounge and dining room are attractive and comfortable retaining many of the original Victorian features. The bedrooms are very well furnished and comfortable. The hotel is situated just outside of Ross on Wye and on the edge of beautiful countryside.

This hotel was booked for me by late rooms.com after I was let down by another hotel on the eve of my stay. I had not had time to view this hotel so when I arrived I did not know what to expect. The entrance and front looks very tired and unkept and the net curtains at the window's had... More

We have just returned from a two night break at the Chasedale which we enjoyed immensely. This is the our fourth stay, our first being 28 years ago. The hotel is set in a peaceful location, on the edge of the town, and ideally situated for walking in and around the Wye valley. The hotel is owned and run by... More

We arrived and were warmly greeted by the owner's wife. We arranged to eat in the hotel's restaurant that evening. My wife is a vegetarian and it is very important for her to have a good choice of meals in a restaurant (Vegetarian dish of the day is not acceptable). She had a choice of 6 or 7 main meals... More

I have stayed at this hotel with my mother several times and always marvel at the personal touches, time and consideration shown by a very overworked team of husband and wife owners. This provides a welcome change from the minimalistic anonymity of chain hotels and at a fraction of the price. My only regret is that more guests do not... More

The staff were very welcoming and helpful, and the hotel location was fine, However, there was no heating on in our room, and the decor was a little faded. Although the bathroom had recently been redecorated, and was of good size, there was no shower, and the water was lukewarm at best. Also the plumbing was very noisy when other... More
