Had a very relaxing night. Room was great. Hotel has a lovely feel to it. Very cozy and warm. Excellent staff and nothing is to much trouble. more

The hotel was once lovely but it seems that cost cutting has resulted in it now being very poor value for money indeed. The bedrooms are pretty much the best part of the hotel - a bit scruffy/dated but clean and comfy. There is a bistro (and restaurant that didn’t open, even during the weekend) serving breakfast and dinner. The... more

I must say, i visit oakham a lot on business but staying in whipper is almost like staying in my 2nd home. Whipper in hotel is located so well in town and most importantly staff are so good. Hotel has such a nice character and room is clean, tidy. I always enjoy my stay at Whipper in. more

I stayed in this hotel to attend a wedding near by. The room was ok on first inspection, but was not very clean. The net curtains were filthy, bathroom was outdated and badly in need of refurbishment. We had an ensuite bathroom, with no shower over the bath - not really up to modern standards. The reception staff were unwelcoming.... more

We booked late and were expecting a bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. What we got was a bathroom across the hallway with no hook for the shower head above the bath and no shower screen. Although the room was newly decorated the carpet and most of the furniture was old, the TV remote was missing(stolen) and the only illumination was... more

Myself and a friend stayed at this hotel this weekend and were sadly disappointed. The hotel seems to be in need of a general clean; our room had cobwebs in the corner of the ceiing and dust on top of the wardrobe. I was also unimpressed by the two dirty towels that were hanging on the bathroom rail, surely a... more

I live in oakham ans was discusted with the standard of the room we (my partner and i) stayed in. first things first we payed for a double room, not 2 single beds pushed together and two beds at differant standards! then onto the towels, one had a brown stain on it! not nice. then a "health and safety issue" which... more

A great location in a lovely part of the world but the hotel needs to be cared for. It is a very old building and has plenty of character but the public areas need refurbishment and are quite frankly very dirty. The restaurant had been refurbished to look like bistro but wasn't in character with the hotel at all.We stayed... more

You could be fooled into thinking the Whipper-in Hotel is a nice Hotel given its prime location in the wonderful market town of Oakham in Rutland, its pretty exterior and premium room rates; however the experience is nothing like the expectation. The Hotel is extremely tired with peeling wallpaper and damp patches, the carpets are scruffy and the whole place... more

We were extremely sorry to read that you were not happy with your stay at The Whipper-In Hotel. It is very rare that we receive complaints regarding this hotel as the staff maintain very high standards especially in housekeeping, we have contacted our laundry company regarding the sub standard linen that was delivered, the towels actually had rust marks on...
