I have used this hotel for a number of years and despite (as other reviewers have commented) tired bathrooms have always found it comfortable, the owners pleasant and helpful and the cooked to order breakfast second to none. In addition they have that scarcest of assets in Oakham a secure car park. They have now embarked on a refurbishment programme... More

People were nice, the hotel was very clean and tidy, and you are well catered for for. Free internet in your room. tea and coffee making facilities, even a trouser press. Massive bed, yay. car park belonging to the hotel out the back. Got the room through lastmin.com 50 quid bargain More

Making a refreshing change from the faceless chains, the Old Wisteria is ideal for short stays in Oakham We visited just for one night and found the hotel to be clean and well presented. Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was very good. Nice to see an independent hotel that cooks food to order...something that larger hotel chains should... More

I was here for a weekend. No real complaints about it - bathroom v. good, my single had a double bed in, more than enough storage etc. It was a bit bland - so fine if you were there on business or for a short stay but you'd want more if staying longer, and more facilities. More

As mentioned, bathrooms are looking a bit worn and could do with a makeover, but the owner is friendly and knowlegeable, good location, good price for an independent hotel. Has wired, free internet, they ought to mention this. Excellent breakfasts cooked to order. More

We were welcomed in a quiet friendly way. Our room was excellent and had been refurbished as part of a rolling programme. The breakfast was excellent. The evening meal was nor quite up to the standard of other aspects of the experience, but to mark that down too much would be unkind. If/when we return to Oakham, this hotel we... More

The hotel is opposite the council buildings in an ideal location. the car park is around the back,be sure to pull into the narrow road that leads up to the rear of the hotel, not into the pay and display next to it. The car park, reception, restaurant were pleasant and the entire hotel had a nice feel to it.... More

Quiet hotel in a great location. Ideal for local attractions such as Rutland Water. Rooms are clean and comfortable with recent modernisations including flat screen HD televisions and freesat channels. Very friendly and helpful staff. Small carpark but spacious public carpark next door. Overall a great place to stay if you're out and about around the Rutland area. More

We stayed at the Old Wisteria last weekend with friends. On a positive side, the receptionist was pleasant and efficient, the breakfast was cooked fresh to order and was really good, and the staff very friendly and efficient. The bar and dining area were very pleasant and bar prices not too expensive. The location was great as it was on... More

Our party of eight stayed at this hotel and were pleased with it. Nothing flashy but a good standard with nice wide double beds, a big television (take your 12 year old son to operate it!) and plenty of storage. The car park was full on one of our three nights but the public car is next door and if... More
