We have been goint to The Dalmeny for about 20 years now and have noticed that standards are falling. Years ago the owners had a very hands on approach and the hotel was great. Now it seem to be staff who dont really care if you enjoyed your stay or not. The receptionist never even asked if we enjoyed our... more

3 generations of our family stayed for 4 nights in June and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We paid extra for Premier Sea View family rooms with balconies in the newer part of the hotel. As the weather was hot & sunny the views were lovely, especially the sunsets. Ok, the beds were still carpeted breeze blocks but were comfy & clean... more

First of all i would like to get off by saying what an excellent weekend my family and i had! When we stayed in 2006, our room was somewhat old fashioned. At onetime we did notice that the beds were just carpeted breezeblocks with a matress on (not the comfiest). Although this year the rooms were excellent, because we payed... more

Well, readers. Mixed reviews I suppose. The rooms were fine and we did get balconies and sea views. One double bed appeared to be built from carpeted breeze blocks and wasn't as comfortable as we would have liked. One point I noticed was that the mirror over the dressing table was fixed to the wall too high up for me... more

We booked the Dalmeny for a family celebration for nostalgic reasons. We stayed for 2 nights. The rooms were adequate - we had a room at the back of the hotel with a huge bay window. This, like much of the hotel, has so much potential. However, enen though the room was very spacious, it could do with a decoration... more

Stayed here for a couple of weeks throughout June and July. I have seen a wide variety of the rooms, they range from Hot prison Cells to huge Family rooms with lots of space. Luckily for me i was mainly situated to the front of the Hotel where you can generally get a decent room with a balcony overlooking the... more

We returned to the Dalmeny following last year's positive experience (see July 2006 review). This time we had booked a premier room and it was most certainly worth the relatively small upgrade cost. The room is HUGE, with a fantastic balcony view, giant shower cubicle and spacious bathroom (though the loo being housed in a tiny cubicle of it's own... more

After reading some of the recent reviews, I was very concerned about my stay in this hotel. After staying there, I am wondering if the negative reviews are about another hotel. I stayed here at the start of July in one of their premier rooms. It was spacious, clean, with a balcony to outside. The hotel itself was very quiet... more

We visited this hotel for the first time at the end of June for a family reunion. There were 30 of us altogether We had a family room with a balcony at the front of the hotel. The room was lovely. We ate in the stables restaurant both evenings we were there and found the food good. Breakfast was good... more

I first went to the Dalmeny over 25 years ago and have probably visited about 10 times since then. My children and family spent lots of happy times here and this used to be the very best in the area. Not anymore I am afraid. We visited during the Easter holidays with our two teenagers and I couldn't believe how... more
