We stayed here for one night for a wedding. The bride and groom wanted the feel of hiring a country manor for a few close friends. The entrance hall was very impressive and the stairway beautiful, the staff were lovely and helpful. Our room was a bit twee and personally we thought needed a bit up dating, as did the... more

We so looked forward and to our visit at Westover Hall and eagerly anticipated our stay. Sadly, deep disappointment was our experience. Despite visiting the hotel in advance to ensure that it was appropriate for a birthday treat and being shown Room 8, which is very nice, in hindsight we should also have asked (maybe, insisted) on seeing the room... more

We have just returned from our stay at Westover Hall and we will definitely be returning. The sheer wow factor of the building and the warmth of the staff made our weekend very special. We were made to feel extremely welcome from the moment we arrived. We stayed in a standard room without the sea view as the sea view... more

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights over the May long weekend and agree with a lot of the comments already posted... the hotel is in a great location right by the sea but don't expect huge grounds or views of the New Forest. It is close to the road and has a small, very pleasant garden with a... more

We booked for the downstairs of the "beach retreat" for the easter weekend - 2 nights for £600. The "beach retreat turned out to be a cottage which is next to the hotel. No sea views as it faces a block of flats! Heating went off at night and it was freezing, there was sour milk in a flask next... more

We stayed at the hotel for two nights in February. We were quite shocked upon arriving to find the hotel situated on a road in a housing estate, as everything we had read beforehand suggested it was a peaceful country hotel. The room we had was lovely - spacious, light and airy - with sea views (ignoring the holiday homes... more

Stayed here for a single night and really enjoyed it. The hotel is a lovely Victorian property with sea views across to the needles from the bar, restaurant and first floor reading room. There is also a separate guest lounge in which to relax with piano, chess, and books and magazines. The food was excellent and staff were very friendly,... more

If you can arrive at the hotel wearing a blindfold so that you don't have to trail through the depressingly ordinary seaside town of Milford on Sea, and you manage to wear blinkers to blot out the hideous little modern holiday homes on one side of the garden, you will be in for a very pleasant time. The views to... more

My husband and I stayed at Westover Hall last weekend and from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we loved it. Very friendly staff, wonderful location, lovely bedroom and the best food we have ever tasted. We stayed in room 21 which was nicely decorated but was above the kitchen, so you could smell the cooking -... more

This was our first stay at a hotel as recommended by Alistair Sawday and we were truly looking forward to a very special experience. On the plus side - it's a lovely building, beautifully kept with fantastic stained glass windows, wood panelling and a stunning bedroom overlooking the sea. The reception staff were very welcoming and informative. On the minus... more
