Somewhat run down and seedy with a caravan site in the back garden. The room was not at all up to standard and in places (bathroom ) grubby. All night could hear the sound of running watter (possibly from tank in the roof) and bed had no underblanket so could feel the buttons on the mattress. Had booked for 3... more

Receptionist did not look at us, no information on meal times given. Superior room we had booked had small old tv with no remote and room though large was shabby and tired. Moved to another alleged superior room with working old small tv and large ugly bathroom which contained 4 dead moths which remained for the whole of our stay... more

As a female solo business traveller I look for smaller 'friendly' hotels with a decent restaurant. The reception staff were friendly despite being unable to locate the key for my room and giving me a spare which made me a little uneasy. The room was a good size if a little tired looking and could do with at the very... more

After reading the reviews "after" we had booked this hotel, we were not expecting that much at all. Yes it is at the edge of a caravan park and yes it is near a housing estate but that didn't bother us. However, I can see that the caravan park could be regarded as an "issue" during the summer months. The... more

Don,t bother, I've stayed in Lowestoft several times and this Hotel should not be rated 3 star, definately 2 star at best. Yobish, loud music in the bar and poor quality furniture and fittings throughout. Take my advice and check into a proper 3 star hotel on the seafront. This place is miles away from the sea and seems to... more

We were hoping to find a hotel near my parents which we could return to time and again. A hotel with personality, friendly local character, with an understated charm. Unfortunately we chose the Carlton Manor. The check in was bright, cheery and pleasant, unfortunately checking and checking out were the highlights of our stay. Understandably with the hotel catering for... more

We stayed here for one night after a last minute search for accomodation nr Suffolk or Norfolk. The hotel describes itself as being set in rolling country side but is actually next to several new housing estates and its own caravan park. It obviously prioritses the 'function' element of its business and prides itself on the food so despite a... more

I recently spent a two night break at the Carlton Manor Hotel Lowestoft and had a great stay, I have stayed in other lowestoft hotels and this is by far the friendliest and nices by far. I was given a double room which had been recently refurbished and with beautiful taste in decor, I found the room to be off... more
