I thoroughly enjoyed my 3 night stay, where my timings were erratic due to work but I was accommodated in every way. Delicious breakfasts and evening meals to boot. more

Upon arrival at around 3.30pm, my group was told that one of our rooms wasn't ready, but it later transpired that what that meant was that it hadn't been built yet! This was despite booking months in advance, however, it appeared that the owner had only just realised that he'd taken too many bookings (after scrapping a previous idea to... more

I have to say that I largely agree with the last review - poor organisation lets this place down. We arrived, as arranged, at around 5pm on the Friday to be greeted by the lady of the house stating that she hadn't known we were coming. I was handed a pile of towels and asked to take them to my... more

We seriously suspect the most recent review to be a fake written by the owner or a member of his family. There is nothing that can't be remedied with decent hands on management but I am afraid this was not in evidence when we turned up last week. There was nobody in despite all the doors being open (testament to... more

We have just returned from a week staying at Lav'rockha Guest House and exploring Orkney. We were very impressed with the standard of this guest house and the friendly manner of the owner. Our room was large, light and very comfortable with a good sized en-suite shower room. It was all in excellent decorative order and spotlessly clean. The room... more

We stayed here two nights in the family room. The party consisted of myself, my sister, and my boyfriend. The good:The rooms were clean and tastefully decorated. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was wonderfully large. The host family were incredibly friendly and helpful (everything you could ask). The cooked food was fantastic. Close to downtown and there is limited... more

This was our second trip to Orkney, and we stayed with the Websters both time. My cousins, uncle, and I highly recommended La'vrockha. It is centrally located near the Highland Distillery. On our first trip, three of us stayed in the family room, which is large and spacious. On our second trip, my uncle was older and had recently had... more

We spent three nights at lav'rockha and enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and warm. The beds were certainly acceptable. The bathroom was huge with a strong shower which provided HOT water. We stayed in countless B&B's during our trip to Scotland in which we froze because the heating was so pathetic and in which the showers were either... more

This guest house was clean, with reasonably new decor, though not overly tasteful (tartan carpets, I thought it looked a bit '80s'). We were given a family room (only wanted a double). The bed was so uncomfortable - springs digging into our backs, all saggy - we hardly slept a wink (and we never normally have any problems!). The next... more

Management response from
John4753, Owner

Unfortunately in this business, one very occasionally meets a guest who sets out to obtain a discount. The guests in question were given a larger room as we were quiet at that time of year, and it was freshly redecorated (as all our rooms are each year). Nevertheless, upon receiving the compaint, we offered to obtain, that day, a new...
