If there was a competition for the ugliest hotel in Britain - at least from the outside - then the Lerwick Hotel would have little competition. Expensive, dated, shabby - that's it really. Shetland is a wonderful place but isn't well served by hotels. Stayed here for three nights. Food is excellent and bathrooms are clean and look recently refurbished but it is downhill from there on. Bedrooms are very basic and could do with a lick of paint. I have to disagree with the trip advisor from Kelso. I have been travelling to Lerwick for approximately 8 yrs now, on average 4 times per year. I have stayed regularly at the "Lerwick" and have always found the service to be excellent and the food also. more
