We wanted a mid-week break to chill and explore the area of Norfolk, we chose this hotel on the strength of various reviews. We cannot understand the negative comments! we certainly found the hotel very clean, warm, friendly and shared good banter with the family at the bar. We will definetly recommend The Pier Hotel for holiday and buisiness trips. more

we have just had a short break at this hotel for the second time. We returned because of the great location, right on the beach and although there was snow when we arrived we still loved to walk along it. If the weather is hot and you like to lay on the beach, could not be better. Have read a... more

This hotel gave us the worst customer service I have EVER recieved. When we arrived, the owners son sat at reception explaining to a female customer that she wouldn't be allowed to drink a pint at the bar, as the hotel will only serve women lager in halves! When he finally got roung to greeting us, he was the rudest... more

I frequently stay at The Pier on business, most recently having stayed for 2 months. The best thing about this hotel is that the owners and staff make you feel like family. They are warm and friendly people and interesting characters all. Many a good laugh had in the bar chatting and telling stories. It's what makes this place so... more

I had an excellent experience in the Pier hotel over the period of about 7 months where I worked locally in the area. I had previously stayed in a couple of other local hotels, which frankly, didn’t have a patch on The Pier. When spending so much time away from home, feeling welcome with good food and friendly people is... more

In short; What a nightmare. The owners are rude and agressive to the extreme. The owners' son was sat at reception with a big black eye when we arrived. he was grumpy and far from helpful. Told us to leave our bags and have a drink while we waited for our room to be prepared. No apology that it was... more

On the plus side location is very good and breakfast was great. Down side... Owners were intimidating and made us feel very uncomfortable, bed was small Think very carefully before booking - I do not belive all the 5* ratings, this is the worst 'hotel' I have ever stayed in. more

We set off for The Pier, having booked a fortnight previously, on the Saturday morning to be told in a telephone conversation on our way from Yorkshire ( 4hr drive ) that the hotel had made a mistake and the room we had booked into was already booked! Not a good start, but the manager said that due to it... more

Having read these reviews, i had little hesitation in booking. However, i have two children in their teens and well-behaved, but I found that this is not a hotel that likes families and is more "geared-up" to couples and business travellers, which is a shame considering its seaside location. I found the Manager and his family quite surly. The domestic... more

We visit many hotels in race towns. Just returned from The Pier. Our Room 15 was delightful. The breakfasts were the best we have enjoyed for a long time. (including some 5 star!) Very attentive staff. more
