Nestling in the picturesque stone village of Oasby, the Houblon is surely the quintessential English country pub, replete with real ales, fine food, low beams and a huge open fire. Once seen and experienced, it lingers long in the memory and enjoys a devoted following from locals and visitors alike. New proprietor Ian Grant and his partner Linda are delighted to be breathing new life into such a beautiful place, so powerfully resonant of rural history and tradition. Renowned all over Lincolnshire for our food and ales – with Everard’s Tiger, Black Sheep and Timothy Taylor’s Landlord always available, alongside a different guest ale every week – our seasonal and eclectic menu is designed to appeal to a variety of tastes, with our ever-popular Lincolnshire sausage and mash with red wine gravy, warm chorizo-based house salad and supreme of chicken with asparagus and cream cheese mousse, happily appearing alongside fresh seafood, pork belly, sirloin steak, braised lamb, cheese soufflé, goat’s cheese tomato and red onion salad and our renowned roast joints which are the centrepiece of our Sunday lunches. Indulge yourself with our hand cut chips and homemade soups and breads and stay awhile to enjoy the ambiance of this most charming inn. The lovely oak-beamed restaurant adjacent to the bar – which can seat around 30 people – offers a perfect and memorable venue for small functions, meetings and special occasions and celebrations and has already happily accommodated many birthday, retirement and wedding celebrations and receptions. A pretty garden and boules court offers an attractive outdoor space which can be utilised alongside summer functions, offering comfortable wooden tables and chairs amidst a plethora of attractive flower beds. Four large attractive guest rooms – also featuring stone walls and oak beams – offer comfortable accommodation and make for the perfect break when combined with the real food and real ales which are the hallmark of the Houblon. Our beautiful hideaway inn may be one of Lincolnshire’s best-kept secrets. Let us share it with you.
