This little town is a delight for the traveller and well worth visiting. This Hotel is ideally situated for a visit to Fowey. Great rooms, lovely gardens and ease of access to the village. The hotel has a great veranda, lounge and bar from which to soak up the views

Booked a landward facing room using the SE website for the first time, with complimentary wine. As it was such a good deal we were not sure what we would get or the quality level of the room. We had nothing to fear, as we found from the moment we arrrived. This is a very enjoyable hotel with excellent attentive... More

We have stayed a number of times and have never been dissapointed . It is the people and great food that make it so special and place we will return too. Room was good with a lovely view. great night sleep. Made to feel very special with our own dinning room as staying with a group of friends. very minor... More

Stayed for one night and found a warm welcome and well appointed room. Comfortable bed, spotlessly clean room, bath and separate shower. Loads of towels and hot water, proper tea pot and coffee makings, bottled water. This is not a slick minimalist hotel, but slightly old fashioned in a good way, with a cheerful welcome, a voucher for a free... More

The Fowey Hotel oozes old fashioned charm, more than any other I’ve stayed in before. A far cry from the modern clone hotels which I’ve sadly become accustom too. Yes, the paint work isn’t perfect and there are a few dodgy choices of floor tiles around, however, this hotel was built in 1882 and is testament to the history it’s... More

We stayed a few nights at Easter, and were extremely impressed. The staff, facilities, food, rooms and views were excellent, and we experienced a good deal of consideration and helpfulness. Welcoming staff, comfortable bed, good bathrooms. It was fairly quiet there, not a huge hotel which was great for us. You need to book parking as it is limited -... More

This is our second visit in 6 months to this hotel, which is fast becoming our favorite along side its sister hotel The Grand in Torquay. The room was amazing as were the stunning views, the food faultless and the staff the best there is, nothing is too much trouble, the atmosphere is so relaxed you dont want to leave.... More

The location of the Fowey Hotel is excellent with lovely views and close to local shops and bars. The hotel car park was full on arrival so had to park a 10 minute walk away so book the car park in advance if you do not want the inconvenience. The Hotel had friendly staff and a wonderful lift with open... More

A beautiful location overlooking the estuary made this a quiet and restful stay apart from two problems Firstly food is subjective and the hotel offer fine dining without doubt but however pretty it looked it was a triumph of style over taste which was lacking. A fried breakfast cannot be a work of art. It defies logic. My sausage was... More

We have stayed at this lovely hotel several times- the location is fabulous ,the staff attentive and polite, the breakfasts lovely. My only gripe really is about the evening menu-we went the last two times, on the classic break with dinner included but found on our last visit that the majority of items on the menu incurred a supplementary charge. I... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Made famous by the celebrated authoress, Daphne du Maurier, and ranked as one of the UK’s most desirable locations, the pretty Cornish town of Fowey, is a delight to explore. Clusters of characterful buildings, cottages and shops tumble down the hillside to rub shoulders with those stacked along the curving main street, which runs parallel to the Fowey estuary. The Fowey Hotel, with its wonderful views over the town, estuary and the sea is the perfect place from which to explore it all! There's plenty to do and see too. Shopping is fun, with a variety of independent specialist shops, galleries and delicatessens - with not a high street name in sight! The town is a most pleasant walk from end to end; to be taken at a reasonable dawdle, in order not to miss a bit as there are some wonderful surprises just round every corner. From here you can venture east or west along the South West coast path and walk for miles or drive no more than a short distance, to visit the numerous sights and attractions situated in this lush, verdant area of Cornwall. The Fowey Hotel is part of Richardson Hotels of Distinction. ... more   less
