Thank goodness I didnt read the previous review, before booking our stay at Bartles. Instead we were reccommended by my inlaws. Who do not fish and only stay at top establishments.

Im not saying the previous review was wrong, just that its out of date now.

We went end April 2008. Bartles is now owned by a charming couple called Chris and Jane. From what I remember they took over the place about 18 months ago. And have obviously spent that time doing a complete refurb. The room we stayed in had

We booked a week at this place as my husband is a keen fisherman and it advertised two lakes that could be fished. This didn't help the general ambiance of the room which felt damp and rather grubby. I had a peek at some of the other rooms and they did look better than
ours but not enough to make me want to ever return. The fishing however was very good as were the breakfasts.

I think that a group of men staying there for the fishing would enjoy
it (some of the fishermen have been visiting for 7 or 8 years), but...
