Only one beer on hand pump but very nice and good value food. Good varied menu. Plenty of seating areas to choose from. Friendly staff. Only let down by the lack of real ale. Popped in for a Saturday lunch while visiting the area. A few places to choose from in Coleford.

Had a super lunch on a very cold and wet day. I had the liver bacon and onions with mash and lovely vegetables it was presented beautifully and delicious, also a large portion. Good service and friendly atmosphere. I would definitely visit again.

Bed was lovely, we slept very well apart from fan in bathroom which was very loud. All the staff were friendly and so helpful, nothing too much trouble for anyone. Personally, i didn't like the pre order for breakfast, but breakfast was very good when we got it.

I'd like to say the staff are fantastic always happy to help. Didn't enjoy my first and only ever visit as I found the landlord a drunk rude and how he speaks to new customers and staff disrespectful and always got he's hands on the till not away to run a business

Reading the mixed reviews of the Angel from over the years we took the chance and were very pleasantly surprised. Not only is the hotel steeped in history, there are tales of hauntings and supernatural happenings, the room was lovely and warm, the welcome from everyone we met from cleaning staff to manager was really good, friendly and chatty - owners even spent time including us in their pool tournament. Food was very good but weee only serving breakfast, evening meals looked well priced with a good selection. Free parking is fairly close to the hotel but not owned or exclusive to it. We are looking forward to a return trip and was well worth the stay.

Thank you for his help. One young quiet lad working at the bar. I was really very panicking as I'd travelled a massive long way to reach coleford. My destination was to reach Symonds yat but bus didn't run so taxi was my only option. This young lad helped me find ALL local taxi firms and wrote down all their details very professionally. I really couldn't thank him enough. At the end with all his help, I managed to find the cheapest taxi so I thank the Angel hotel staff.

The stay was interesting as the staff were in the bar and the beer garden drinking and smoking in front of the customers. The manager was not friendly towards customers who had travelled from overseas.

Superior room was basic and dilapidated, extremely noisy. Devoid of hospitality - we returned from a day out to find the bed unmade - a fact that staff refused to accept or apologise for. An experience best avoided - our mistake, but the whole place is a joke and the devil has crept into the Angel. Dysfunctional at best, so forget about any hopes of enjoying your stay.

Wouldnt stay here again. Apart from the fact we had badly disturbed sleep due to outside influences in the street. Friday night noise right outside our bedroom window for 2 hours between midnight and 230am that ended in someone getting beaten up. Saturday night was much the same people screaming in the street. Not the hotels fault i know but still this behaviour needs adressing locally ans the hotel and local business should be puttin pressure on to do just that. Did not like the breakfast set up either. had to choose your brekky and hot drink the day before by 9pm and also was given a time slot you had to stick to and the first time slot on sunday was way too late at 830am meaning this made us late for an appt in cheltenham. Wish i had booked The Bells hotel instead now. Other than that i could not fault the rooms at all …

Lovely lady welcomed us at The Angel. Fantastic value for money, clean, plenty of tea and coffee with biscuits. The breakfast was super, couldn't believe it for the price we paid. Our room was overlooking the main street but no problem at all regarding noise. Would stay here again. Thank you to the lady who looked after us from two Yorkshire travellers.
