Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You don't expect a holiday let to be on an electric credit meter. We didn't know, woke up one morning no electric, so couldn't do tea, coffees and breakfast etc as we were there for work it was very annoying. It went again 2 days later, this time the host told us that credit had been put onto the meter and we had confirm it on the meter. Apart from the above the unit we were in was ok, the whole site could do with some investment and TLC, skips in the car park and builders waste stacked up outside one unit.

Kennacott House was good (lots of room for the 10 of us, well provisioned kitchen, nice bathrooms and good private lawn). We liked being in good striking distance (by car) of beaches. However although we were told before booking our holiday (about 12 months before we went) that modernisation work would be completed, the shared leisure facilities such as indoor pool and children’s play area were not available. It did not appear that work had been done on them recently. Without these facilities, the accommodation seems overpriced compared with others in the area. Despite my request, no refund has been offered to reflect the absence of these facilities. Similarly my security deposit has not been returned 2 months after we left. Frustratingly, the letting agents seem reluctant to respond to my emails (the only way to communicate with them - the phone line does not seem to be working).

We have been coming to this property for over 15 years. The location and view has always been amazing. The house has undergone some renovations to make some improvements but it lacks that cosy feel now and feels quite sparse. There is no golf course any more. We brought our clubs hoping to play. The pool is closed for renovations. We were not offered any refund for this. It’s a shame. Leaking tap in kitchen- no response from company regarding this. Basically poor attention to detail and no one cares now.

after several years of the whole family in the Farmhouse and then the House! The accommodation and equipment were all really good quality and working. Pity about the state of the other facilities. Widemouth Bay as we remembered.

Felt I had to review after reading about so many cancellations this year! We have just returned from a week’s holiday where an extended family group stayed in a number of the cottages at Kennacott. I stayed in Kennacott House so can mostly comment on that. The house has been redecorated recently so the photos on the website are not accurate any more. It looks a lot less dated and the kitchen has been refitted so it doesn’t have an aga any more. The stairlift has been taken out which is obviously important for anyone visiting with mobility issues. The kitchen is pretty well stocked although the oven was not properly attached to the unit so it would move out if you pulled the door too hard! I get the sense it might have been done in a bit of a rush, one of the radiators wasn’t attached properly to the wall either and fell off. Some of the showers didn’t have hot water either. The Wi-Fi was patchy. We have left a list of things to be looked at but I’m not sure who’ll pay attention to it. The ownership of Kennacott Court has just changed/is in the process of changing I think so communication was very poor. We received the wrong information for check in and it was only due to luck that we actually managed to get in I think. A code for the key box was needed. There were no instructions as to what we should do upon checking out. We did try to contact the head office during the week we were there but with no luck. We received no replies to emails that were sent. The swimming pool is being redeveloped, not sure when it will reopen but the childrens room has just reopened (although it needs a bit of a clean after building dust). The site as a whole is ok, I get the impression that things will be updated but not sure when that will happen. Some of the cottages our family were staying in had some issues as well. The location is ideal, 5 minute drive from Widemouth Bay and 10 minutes into Bude which was great! In conclusion, if a few key things were improved then we would definitely return!

In January we booked a week stay here for May 22. We booked 2, 2 bedroom cottages for a party of 6. In April 22 I altered our booking to 1, 2 bed & 1, 3 bed cottage & paid an extra £500. 1 week before we were due to arrive, I had an email from them cancelling our booking, with no reason as to why. Trying to find an alternative for a group of 7 people, proved impossible at such short notice, especially as it was may bank holiday & school holidays; I had to explain to my family & 2 young boys, that they could not go on holiday to the beach.

Similar experience as many people below, cancelling a week before our trip, saying some covid related issue. Trying to make more money off bookings is my read. Won’t pick up the phone won’t reply to emails and even worse, 10days to process a refund! Absolute bunch of cowboys!

My family (including two small children) and in laws were due to arrive on Friday 20th for a wedding and then spend a week in Bude. I booked this in October of 2021 and with 11 days to go they cancelled my holiday telling me that COVID had been tough for them! But no real reason as to why they were cancelling it. What I believe that have done is cancelled my holiday and sold it to someone else for a more expensive rate. An absolute disgrace. There should be laws and repercussions for people like this.

We are currently staying at kennacott. Everything is locked up and no staff in sight. Kids are absolute gutted. We have been calling the mobile number constantly for 2 weeks with no response. We've left emails and voicemails but no reply. Waste of £1000. Save your money and go to Pontins, at least things are open. Do not come here.
