I have just come back from a meal with my parents. The Red Well has a chequered history and I can remember times when it was excellent. Tonight was not one of theose times. The menu looked good and suitable for a cold December day. We had booked into the restaurant part, only to find that theplace was fully booked... more

i took my mum for a meal, with my children and a friend of mine and her son. we all ordered from the early bird menu, which was very reasonably priced. the service both at the bar and the table was friendly and efficient. all the dishes served were homemade, fresh, very tasty and good portions too. i have no... more

I originally booked the Red Well Inn by mistake, confusing it with the Old Well in but I am so glad I did. The Red Well was delightful; we had rooms 5 and 6, room 6 being the one with the roof patio which was fantastic as I am a smoker and it is not very often one has the... more

Thankfully we did not stay at this hotel, simply attended for a meal. The menu looked very appetising and we were hoping for good value, unfortunately we did not get this. The staff were surly and rude. My starter was bland and lacked taste, when the (very) young man took my plate, he did not ask how the meal was... more

Sweet little hotel/inn but not worth the money. Paid £75 for a one night stay and wasn't worth it - there is a travelodge about ten mins away which is probably a lot better value. Inn was old and kind of run down, all the floors creaky and covered in dusty old carpets. Springs stuck out of the beds. No... more

I agree with some of the other reviewers - the staff here were, on the whole, pretty poor - rude with no concept of hospitalilty. I travelled up with 3 friends for sightseeing and local-ale trying so we spent a small fortune in the bar both afternoons and nights. Despite this, we were treated rather shabbily and at one point... more

The bar and the food lets the Inn down. Had a meal there one night and the staff were very rude, throwing food down onto the table, scowling... I have seen nothing like it. The food was of terrible quality, EVERYTHING was overcooked and dry and I suspect all their ingredients were frozen and nothing was fresh. Very disappointing indeed. more

yes, the red well inn was ok, and thats about it. not family friendly, for example, it took us several attempts to as for a cot for our child although we booked it well in advance, and not that well situated, it is too far away from the town. the pub lacks atmosphere and is very dull overall. however cleanliness... more

My husband and I stayed at the Red Well for 1 night in January and were delighted. The room was quite small but nicely furnished, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom/shower was to a high standard. There were double doors leading out onto a patio which would be such a bonus in the nice weather even though the view... more
