My Husband and I stayed at this lovely guest house for one night only but we will definitely be back, what a cosy, hospitable atmosphere which is created by the decor, ambience and Carol and Per who run the guest house . Carol is the type of person you instantly like and makes you feel like you have known her... More

My wife and I stayed in this lovely guest house for ten nights, the service was excellent in every way, putting a lot of so called 5 star hotels we have stayed in to shame ! Our room was lovely and the breakfast each day was excellent with a lot of choice, we would recommend this lovely guest house to... More

We arrived at lunchtime in the middle of October and were welcomed by Carol who is a very charming lady. We were shown to the garden en-suite. What a lovely surprise, the room was perfect with a great attention to detail; everything was of high quality from the tea and coffee making facilities to the decor. The bathroom was sparkling... We arrived on a damp miserable evening, at the beginning of September, on our way home from Scotland to Cambridgeshire and were glad that we had arranged to have an evening meal and did not need to venture out again. My husband and I stayed in the Garden En Suite Room, while my cousin was in the main house in... More

Travelling with my sister on a short break to Co Durham and Teeside we broke our journey with a one night stay at Homelands. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome, the twin room at the back was very comfortable, spotless and lovely and quiet. The breakfast the next morning was excellent, plenty of choice,... More

We stayed 3 nights in a very clean and comfortable room overlooking the street. Tried something different every morning on the breakfast menu and everything was delicious and plentiful. Hosts very welcoming and helpful with local tips. Complimentary sherry was a welcome touch as well as the generous variety of magazines and local material to read. More

Decided at lunchtime to visit our son in South Shields, looked for a place in Barnard Castle on the internet for that evening. Available was the Homelands Guest House, what a pleasant surprise. We booked the Garden Room (highly recommended), not many places impress my wife, but this room did, spotless, quiet, a pleasure to stay. Breakfast was as good,... More

We stayed in the Garden En-Suite Room, which is very comfortable, private and quiet, giving a very good night's sleep. The hosts were friendly and helpful, and the fresh fruit salads available at breakfast time are particularly recommended. Overall we had an excellent stay and would have no hesitation in recommending. More
